This is a short story that I wrote about Tris's parents.

~The Story Of Us~
"Darn, Jeanine," Andrew Prior cursed as he sat himself down for science class, the members of other fractions filed in soon after. His childhood friend, Jeanine Matthews entered looking quite flustered. "Did you get it?" He asked. Jeanine nodded as she pushed her glasses up her nose and tidied her blonde hair in the seat next to him.
The teacher entered followed by a pretty blonde green eyed girl –Natalie, Andrew couldn't help but watch the Dauntless beauty sit beside her fellow neighbors and friends as they laughed and joked about. He truly envied her; her life was so care free.
"Alright then, settle down."
All eyes were then set on their teacher as he coughed and handed out pieces of papers, placing them in the middle of each two chaired desk. "This paper is your project; however, it is a partnered project and you may choose whoever you like to work with," Jeanine's eyes gleamed with light. "But your partner must be from a different fraction." Loud shouting soon followed his sentence.
Andrew flipped the paper over as Jeanine began protesting against their teacher, he read on.
'ASSIGNMENT: HOW CAN WE PRESERVE PEACE AMONG THE FRACTIONS?'
"Can I work with you?" A sweet voice asked beside Andrew, looking up his eyes met with Natalie's.
Awestruck for a moment he spontaneously nodded. "Thank you …" She replied and sat down in Jeanine's vacant seat.
"Andrew, Andrew Prior. Erudite." He said.
Natalie laughed a bit before smiling. "Natalie, just Natalie and I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm from Dauntless." She pointed to the tattoo on her arm, Andrew bent nearer for a closer look. Natalie didn't seem to mind.
"Interesting…" Andrew murmured, he took his finger and traced around the lines. Looking back up to Natalie he asked. "Does it hurt?"
She hesitated to answer but said. "It does at first but the pain goes away soon after," Natalie smiled. "So what's our project?" She plucked the paper off the desk as she scanned through the words in bold letters. "So how do you think we should preserve the peace, Andrew?" She asked him teasingly.
Andrew heard the gears in his mind turn and move. "We should set a database controlled by the Erudite headquarters but checked by the Government once every few months,"
"I don't think that's kind of fair, don't you think so too?" Natalie protested as she smiled at him making the boy blush slightly.
"Then how do you Dauntless cope with preserving peace?" Andrew asked as soon as he recovered.
Natalie smiled slyly. "Well, my mother's a fraction leader and we are Dauntless, so we don't attack unless they attack us. But we're pretty much loud and crazy most of the time, so there really isn't much peace there." Andrew couldn't help but find himself smiling along with Natalie; he never really felt so much ease talking to a girl –other than Jeanine, of course. "Maybe we should discuss it at lunch after this?" Natalie suggested.
"I would like that, Natalie." Andrew grinned as Natalie smiled back, but little did they know a future common enemy watched them with pure hatred.
Jeanine Matthews.
I kind of hated Andrew in the begining and I freaked when I found out he was Erudite and best friends with Jeanine but I was happy to know that he met Natalie and this is my thoughts of how they met before the choosing.
So yeah, you can review if you want to.
