It had been a month since Atem left Yuugi and his friends. So far Yuugi had been okay. He had rough nights and long days but his friends were there for him, supporting him, and helping him move on. But tonight, tonight was different. Yugo was going on a date.
Yeah, a date. Even more surprisingly, a date set up by Ryou and Malik with one of Ryou's cousins who moved to domino from Britain. You were going to drop her off at the game shop and Yuugi had been told to take her to the coffee shop down the street that served tea as their date. Simple, but just what they both needed.
As Yuugi played with one of his long blond spikes he heard the bell above the door ring followed by Ryou calling out to him. He came from the back of the shop and he was greeted by Ryou and next to him was almost an exact look alike. She had long white hair, blue eyes, and she significantly stood over Yuugi.
"Hi." He nervously waved.
"Hi." She waved back with a slight blush.
"So Yuugi is going to take you for tea. If you guys have any problems just call me. Don't keep her too late Yuugi!" Ryou said as he was half way out the door.
"I didn't catch your name I'm afraid." Yuugi looked down and blushed.
"Amaru. Are you ready Yuugi?"
"Yes! Let's go!" Yuugi opened the door for her to go through.
At the coffee shop Amaru obviously ordered a strong British tea while Yuugi simply ordered coffee. That cup of tea and coffee last four hours. They talked about their childhoods, who they lived with, what they did with their spare time. They hadn't even finished their conversation when the shop closed and asked them to leave so Yuugi took her back to the game shop.
"So let me see if I have everything, you grew up in England, play duel monsters, the second highest stock holder of Kiaba Corp. You sure have a lot on your plate."
"I don't think so. Let's see, you live with your grandpa selling cards, always lived in domino city, and play duel monsters. And, if I'm right, you're also the king of games."
"I'm not the king. Yami was." Yuugi stood off the couch. Amaru got off the couch too.
"I'm sorry if I hit a touchy topic but you'll have to explain."
Yuugi took a look at her and sighed. Could he tell her about Yami? About how Yami….left? It was still a sore topic but if he opened up to her then maybe…..?
…
3 Years later
Yuugi looked down at the little mass in his arms. He was overwhelmed in happiness like he's only felt on one other day. His wedding day. But today was different. He was holding the little tri colored mass in his arms only pulling his eyes away when his wife spoke.
"Atem. We should name him Atem."
Yuugi looked at her and smiled. The baby did look like Atem. He was darker skinned, surprisingly for his pale parents, had the same crimson eyes as Atem, and even had the same smirk Atem had.
"Yes, he could be Atem's reincarnate. Yuugi finally had a piece of Yami after all these years.
…
What Yuugi couldn't see was the spirit of Atem standing behind him looking at the baby. He had used his shadow magic to insure the baby looked like him. The baby will have his own personality but he will have some passions and traits just like Atem. It was the least he could do for Yuugi. The gods had granted him the chance of returning as a spirit one day a year to check on Yuugi.
"It's almost as if Yami is here." Amaru said.
I never truly left. I will always be here.
Always.
