A/N: Okay, so this is a bit depressing and maybe even triggering. Something just came over me to write this and I just kept writing until the characters told me it was done. I had no idea where this was going it just happened. So let me know what you think!

She rarely drank but tonight she had almost completed a bottle of red wine on her own, she couldn't tell you what type it was any more. Her usual composed self-had slipped away; she was now sitting on the floor of her kitchen. How could she have been so stupid, he was a married man they all were married.

They were all murderers.

They were all evading the law.

They all wanted her money.

They were all selfish.

They were all intimidated.

Picking up the bottle Maura took a large gulp and began to choke but swallowed it down, what was wrong with her. Releasing a sigh and allowing her head to thud back on the cabinet she looked up, not one of her ex's was a decent person. Even the one she thought was her soul mate was horrible. She was always alone, and that she knew she could do she could live with. But she wanted a family; she wanted someone to come home to at night.

Someone who thought her quirks are adorable, not annoying or intimidating. It sparkled in the dim light, it called to her. Not able to stand on her own Maura held on to the counter top, pulling the blade out she slid down to the ground. She could end it all. She knew how. Most people thought going right to left was how it was done, but no it is top to bottom. It makes it flow quicker, she would probably black out in less than thirty seconds due to her alcohol consumption.

She looked at the blade, sighing and almost chuckling at herself. This is what she had come down to a drunken mess with a knife waiting to rip her wrist apart, she had friends but was she strong enough. Jane was always saving her; she needed to save herself for once.

"But I can't, I can't even meet a decent person." Maura whispered, reaching over and taking a final gulp she tossed the bottle when finished causing it to break on the tile floor. Setting the knife Maura took a deep breath and was about to cut when the back door flew open and Angela walked in with a baseball bat held high. Angela stopped when she saw the wine bottle broken on the floor and Maura sitting on the floor tear streaks on her face a blade set to slit her wrist.

Setting the bat down slowly Angela walked towards Maura, kneeling down she slowly removed Maura's hands from the blade and slid it towards the broken remains of wine bottle. Sitting down slowly next to Maura, Angela looked at her. Worry, compassion and love shown through the older woman's eyes. Before Maura could think she began to cry, it was as if everything she had ever held in poured out.

Enveloping Maura in her arms Angela held the woman, she didn't know what was wrong but she did know in that moment Maura needed a friend and a mother. Maura held on to the older woman, she needed this she needed to break down and she needed to live.

A/N: So you all know I wasn't trying to make Maura seem like she was depending on men, I was just kind of having the man issue be the final straw. She is a very calm and composed character but even those characters break down complete. On the show she has broken down but I don't think enough to where everything has lifted.
