Setting: Placed in Chamber of Secrets in Chapter Seven

Snape sat down on the stands, invisible to the students, hearing the Gryffindors and Slytherins arguingin the Quidditch Pitch. This was the perfect time to deliver some detentions to those arrogant Gryffindors, Snape almost smiled at the thought.

Suddenly Draco's sneering voice pierced the calm air. "No one asked your opinion, you filthy little Mudblood!" The word seem to linger in the air.

Instantly the Gryffindors started trying to destroy Draco Malfoy, of which Snape would have intervened if he was in his usual mood. However Severus Snape was walking away, still invisible, without a hint of of anger.

Severus was in his memories, remembering the last time he had use that word Mudblood.

He was twisted with anger and humiliation bursting all his resentment of Potter, Black, and everyone who made his life hell to the only person he could. Lily.

He could remember her beautiful auburn hair and green eyes as they blazed with shock and hurt. He had said that accursed word, he could never take it back. She was too far gone.

He remembered that night. He had begged her, pleaded for to go back into his arms. She left him behind with her red hair trailing behind without giving him a second glance . . . or a second chance.

He was at his office. He sat down, trying to ignore the memories of Lily's sad green eyes.

Draco had said the word so casually, without caring what that word could mean.

For Snape, that two-syllable word had torn his love away and landed her into James Potter's arms and destroyed what life he had.

Not my best work, but I finished this in like 15 minutes. I love James/Lily but Snape/Lily is so bittersweet! Hope you like it!
