Hey guys! HotBaddieB here! This is my second attempt at writing fanfics. I tried writing a story about Pokémon some years ago but I became bored and uninspired. General P.O.V.
It was an early morning in Radiant City for the Strife Twins. Roxas and Ventus were soundly sleeping when suddenly their Amazon Echo went off, blaring a loud alarm throughout the room.
"Aaaagh!" Ventus screamed as he fell from the top bunk because of the sudden outburst. After laying on the cold wooden floor in pain for a few moments, he gazed over at his brother who somehow managed not to wake up from the sound. Staring at his brother incredulously, he remembered the alarm sounding in the background, and with an annoyed voice and angry expression, he commanded, "Alexa, shut up!". He walked to Roxas' bedside and tried to shake him awake, gently at first. After realizing it wasn't working, Ventus rapidly shook his brother and screamed at him, startling him awake.
"Ventus what the hell!? Why are you waking me up so early!?" Roxas said enraged
"Because we have to get ready for school. It starts in two and a half hours and we need extra time on the first day to get our schedules. Plus, we need time to walk to the train station" Ventus stated. "Oh, and by the way, I'm taking the first shower!" He shouted as he ran out the door and down the hall to their shared bathroom.
"Dammit!" Roxas said to himself. Why did he even need school? Half of the shit they taught there isn't even useful. He groaned in distaste, and rolled over to face the wall, deciding to rest a bit longer while Ventus was in the shower. Deciding he had relaxed long enough, Roxas groggily rose out of bed, and unplugged his black iPhone 10 XS from the power cord. He shielded his eyes as he left the bedroom, the sunlight from the window at the end of the hall practically blinding him. He could hear his older brother Demyx snoring as he walked down the hall. He walked into the bathroom to hear Ventus singing "Let me face let me face let me face my fears!" very loudly. He briefly cringed at the tone-deaf vocals before going to the toilet to pee. Roxas left the bathroom and trekked towards the stairs, passing his older sister Naminé's bedroom along the way. She was already up, drawing contently in her sketchbook as usual. He walked down the stairs and saw his father, Cloud Strife, sitting in the living in his usual recliner.
"Morning Dad" Roxas said.
"Good Morning Roxas" Cloud greeted back. "How'd you sleep?" he inquired.
"Pretty good. What about you?"
"Fine. Although I could've been warmer. Your mother kept snatching the covers from me the whole night. I was absolutely freezing." He said chuckling to himself.
"That's a lie Cloud and you know it!" shouted Rikku from the kitchen. "And if you'd quit being cheap and buy a comforter that actually FITS our bed then maybe you could be warmer at night!" she proclaimed in a snarky voice.
"Fine I'll drop by DestinyMart today and get a bigger one!" Cloud said exasperatedly.
"Awww quit lying! You say that every time we have this argument and you never follow through! Rikku said laughing.
"Ok ok we'll go once the kids have left for school today." Cloud said defeated. "Are you happy now honey?"
"Yes, very much thanks!" Rikku remarked cheerfully. "Roxas baby breakfast'll be ready in a couple of minutes so if you wouldn't mind will you go get your brothers and sister?" She asked.
"Sure Mom, I'll be right back." Roxas agreed. He trudged to the top of the stairs and yelled, "Naminé! Ventus! Demyx! Breakfast is ready!" He got a response from Ventus and Naminé, but hadn't heard anything out of Demyx yet. Figuring Demyx hadn't heard him, he marched down the hall into his room, prepared to scare him awake. Roxas walked into Demyx's room, plugged his brothers sitar into the amp, and played a boisterous power chord.
Demyx jolted awake from the loud sound, screaming, "Oh fuck!" in the process.
Roxas practically fell over laughing after seeing Demyx's reaction. "Oh Dem! You shoulda seen your face! You looked like you were gonna pee yourself!"
"Fuck off Roxas! Although I gotta admit that was a nice chord bruh." Said Demyx bitterly.
"Thanks Dem, now let's go downstairs. Mom should be just about done making breakfast by now."
"Yeah okay. Thanks for the wake up call. You know I would've been mad if the fam didn't save any food for big brother Demmy!"
"Eeew no don't call yourself that!" Roxas said laughing. "And go brush your teeth first. Your breath has a skunk beat right now" he claimed pinching his nose.
"Damn, first you scare me awake, and now you're being mean to me? Looks like you're gonna be on my list for the day." Demyx said devilishly.
"Ummm, I gotta go..." said Roxas, running out of the room.
"Little does he know I've got a video of him dancing really badly! I can't wait to embarrass him in front of the family tonight." Demyx said cackling maniacally to himself. "Oh shit my breath really does stink, maybe I won't hold that one against Roxas."
Roxas had already walked downstairs where now his entire family, save Demyx, was chatting around the big glass table with six chairs. There was a spread of waffles, sausage, bacon, and a colorful bowl of diced fruit.
"Roxas and Ven, are you guys excited for your junior year?" Rikku asked.
"Eh I'm not totally dreading it I guess." Roxas said honestly.
"Same here." Ventus agreed.
"I can't believe my Roxas and Ventus are going to graduate next school year!" She said tearfully. "Oh, I think I just might cry!" Rikku exclaimed excitedly.
Roxas and Ventus blushed, somewhat embarrassed of their mother's dramatizations, but they loved her none the less.
"Wow Mom everything looks delicious!" said Naminé.
"Thanks dear! I just wanted to make sure my babies have a good meal before their first day!" Rikku said caringly. "Oh, and Naminé I can't fathom that you're graduating this year!" She exclaimed, getting emotional all over again. Naminé smiled sheepishly but was thankful for the support. As Naminé was recovering from her embarassment, Demyx came barreling down the stairs, almost falling along the way.
"Good morning family!" Demyx yelled as he entered the kitchen.
"Good morning Dem-Dem! Now come sit down so we can eat, we've gotta get the show on the road in a bit." Said Rikku. Everyone else mumbled their good mornings, as they were practically hypnotized by the sight and smell of the food. Small talk ensued, reflecting on what transpired over the last three months of vacation, stories of Demyx's eventful life, and most importantly, the impending doom known by many as school.
"I'm a very proud father. Who would've thought that all of my children would have top marks in their classes?" Cloud said proudly.
*Brief mention of suicide*
The remainder of breakfast went by rather uneventfully, with Ventus silent practically the whole time. Roxas noticed this and began to worry about his twin, as usually he was rather talkative. The dishes and table were cleaned, and everyone began prepping for their day. Once Roxas and Ventus walked upstairs to their room, Roxas planned on finding out just what was bothering his bro.
Sitting next to his brother on the bed, Roxas built up the courage to ask what was wrong.
"Ven what's up?" Roxas asked worriedly. "You barely said a word at breakfast and that's really weird for you. Most of the time we can't get you to shut up lol." He said in a funny yet caring manner.
"Um…" said Ventus as tears began to form in his eyes, threatening to fall.
"Ven, seriously, you're scaring me. I'm your brother, you can tell me anything. I hope you know that." Roxas said trying to comfort his younger twin by 10 minutes.
"Rox, I've been thinking about this for a while and um… I think I like guys…" Ventus said nervously.
"Ven, you're gay? I never would have thought that… you'd be gay." Roxas said shocked. "But I still love you no matter what bro, this doesn't change a thing."
Ventus, feeling overwhelmed with emotion, lurched forward and clung to his twin brother, sobbing into his shoulder. Roxas hugged his brother tightly, rubbing circles on Ventus' back, doing the best he could to comfort him. Roxas felt tears well up in his eyes as well. He had never seen his brother such a wreck, and it hurt him to see how worried and affected his brother was by all of this. Once they had both calmed down considerably, the conversation resumed.
"Ven, how long have you known?" Roxas asked curiously.
"Probably since we were in sixth grade." Ventus said truthfully.
"Oh Ven, it's been so long. You must've felt so trapped with a secret that big." said Roxas sympathetically. "If you don't mind me asking, who was your first crush?"
"Well, it's Sora's older brother, Vanitas. I don't know, something about his demeanor is just so charming and attractive." he said blushing. "And yeah, it was pretty hard Rox, I'm not gonna lie. For some reason today it just felt like I couldn't hold it in anymore. I almost considered…" Ventus drifted off.
"Ven, don't tell me you were considering suicide! Do you know what that would do to Mom and Dad!? Naminé!? Demyx!? Me especially!? We love you! And we still will no matter what! So what if you're gay!? It's just another detail that makes up the amazing person you are!" Roxas said passionately. "Don't ever think we could stop loving you." He said scolding Ventus. "And you said "it's Vanitas" and not "it was Vanitas"...does that mean you've still got feelings for him now?"
"Yeah, I do. I've had feelings for Vanitas ever since you and I were in sixth grade and he was in eighth."
"Wow...it sounds like these feelings are quite deep." Roxas observed.
"Yeah, basically 5 years of being head over heels for him." Ven said, realizing just how long he had felt this way.
"Just so you know Ven, you can talk to me about absolutely anything. You don't have to feel so alone and hopeless anymore." Roxas said wholeheartedly.
"Thanks Rox. It means a lot to have your love and support on this." Ventus said, moving to embrace his twin. They hugged for a moment, feeling extremely close after the emotional encounter. After hugging, Ventus looked up at the clock on the wall to check the time. Becoming stressed, Ven says "Rox! It's 7:15! We've gotta get to the station in 15 minutes to catch the train to Destiny Hills! And you're still not dressed!" Ventus said freaking out.
"Oh shit Ven, you're right!"
Roxas ran down the hall to brush his teeth and wash his face, and then he ran back to his room to pick out an outfit. He decided on a white Vans hoodie, black ripped jeans, and checkerboard Vans. He made sure he grabbed his essentials off of the nightstand and grabbed his bookbag from the corner of the room.
"Make sure you grab your stuff off the nightstand!" Roxas reminded Ventus.
After tweaking his hair, Ventus walked over to the nightstand to grab his white iPhone 10 XS, gum, his wallet, lip balm, and his bag before meeting his siblings in the living room downstairs. The twins and Naminé said their goodbyes to their parents and walked out the front door. Rikku and Cloud stood on the porch, watching their kids run off until they rounded the block and were out of sight.
"Honey did you notice Ventus' attitude this morning?" Rikku said. "He was rather quiet this morning and that's unusual for him to be that way." She said worriedly.
"I'm sure he's okay babe, he probably just had something on his mind." Cloud said nonchalant-like. "Besides, we've always been open and receptive with our kids, so I'm sure if something was wrong, he'd have no issue telling us." Cloud said trying to reassure Rikku.
"You're right, I'm sure I'm worrying too much." Rikku admitted. "Anyways, you wanna have some fun before we go out?" she said naughtily.
"You know I could never say no to you Rikks, I've been smitten since the day we met." Cloud said flirtatiously.
The couple quickly returned inside, making out along the way to the master suite.
