Chapter 1

I stood on the stage at the auction, here I would meet the doom of being sold and possibly killed. The cold wind blew, and I shivered, my tattered and frayed clothing not doing much to keep me warm. All the others had been sold, but not me. Not yet.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw three people entering late. Two men and a young woman. I shuddered again, from the cold, and hunched into myself. The crack of a whip sounded and pain seared in my back. I whimpered quietly as the slave trader ordered me to stand up straight.

Fearing being whipped again, I did as I was told. The older man I had seen walk in late widened his eyes before narrowing them into slits. Apparently I had done something wrong in his eyes.

"Here we have slave number 1206. She's sixteen years of age and is five foot three inches. We'll start at 100 yen. Do I see 100 yen?" The auctioneer called. I tuned him out and scilently prayed that my next master would be less cruel than the last one I had.

"10,000,000 yen!" I heard after a few minutes. I looked up and saw the same man aising his hand. His companions stared at him, their mouths agape in shock. No one claimed higher, so the auctioneer called "sold" and I was shoved off the stage.

I fell to the ground on hands and knees, hearing myself cry out. The young woman who had come in with my new master, bent down and gently touched my shoulder. I winced away and stood up quickly.

"Are you alright?" She asked kindly. I looked down at the ground and nodded, though I was slightly confused... Why was this woman being nice to me? Either way I knew not to make eye contact with those of higher stature, so I didn't.

"Come. We will take you to our place now." My master said. I merely nodded again and followed dutifully behind him, the other two flanking me.

AN: hahaha! Sorry I disappeared for so long but I've had writers block :( So I'm sure you're wondering who everyone is! Well if you continue to read, I will most definetly reveal it in Chapter 2! R&R!
