Yo minna! Now time for something different... It's my End-Of-Year exam composition! Yes, I am officially obsessed about Kamen Rider, at least enough to be writing about it for my teachers. Okay, a confession: This was before I started writing any Kamen Rider stories, thus it's pretty awkward. Also, I'm pretty sure the teachers have absolutely no idea what Kamen Rider is, let alone Decade, thus it's slightly AU. So yeah... hope you enjoy my first attempt at Kamen Rider fan fiction!
Disclaimer: If I owned Kamen Rider, Decade would not have ended on a cliffhanger.
Desire
Tsukasa Kadoya only ever desired one thing in the world: A place to call home. After travelling through many worlds and facing many obstacles, he still could not find the place where he belonged.
What is home anyway, he wondered to himself. Is it the place where you were born? The place where you grew up? Or is it something else entirely? He once heard the saying that home is where you wish to be, where you return to after a long journey. But is it true?
As Tsukasa travelled through multiple worlds, each with their own laws and regulations, his hope of finding hos own world shrunk smaller and smaller yet. Still, his desire for a world of his own to call home grew with each adventure in each world. He had learnt many valuable lessons through his long journey, but none had helped him on his quest for his own world.
Before he had started this journey, he was but a humble photographer at a photo studio. His Blackbird film camera allowed him to capture the world, but none of his photos would ever develop properly. Taking this as a sign, Tsukasa knew that he was not of this world and began to desire his own. Due to the fact that he had lost all his memories, he could not even remember his home nor his family. He and his friends, Natsumi and Yuusuke then embarked on a journey to find Tsukasa's world.
Throughout the worlds, his photos still looked warped and distorted like the filters in photo editing softwares. With each world, Tsukasa was rejected and he had to continue. Along the way, he made new friends whom he would never meet again and new enemies who tried to do anything to drive Tsukasa out of their worlds. This always saddened Natsumi, but Tsukasa only grew more determined after each encounter.
As Tsukasa sat at the balcony of the Hikari Photo Studio, he pondered his desire for a home. 'Can my world ever be found, or am I doomed to keep travelling forever', he thought. He passes his Blackbird camera from one hand to another, thinking about the times he had returned to the dimension-displaced Hikari Photo Studio. Each time without fail, Natsumi would offer a smile and say "Welcome back!" Each time she did, Tsukasa would merely shrug her off and enter the photo studio with a mock salute. But as time passed, Tsukasa felt just a little happier every time he saw her waiting at the door for him. Though he had not yet found his world, at least he had a place to return to.
"So what is home?" Tsukasa drew his legs up against his chest and stared at the sky. Out of the blue, a pair of slim arms slid around his chest and hugged him tightly. "Natsumi..." Tsukasa breathed, his heart pounding faster. Natsumi gently whispered into Tsukasa's ear, "Don't worry, Tsukasa. If you can't find your world, you can stay with me and my grandpa, right?" At that moment, Tsukasa once again wondered if he would find his home. However, that thought was cast aside quickly and another replaced it: "There is no need to desire for my world. I'm already home."
This was written in a hurry, due to the time limit in the examinations, which is why some things may not be consistent with anything.
Examiner's comment: "If only the title had been 'Homecoming'
Score: 24/30 (Frankly, not bad considering the high standards of my school)
