Disclaimer: I don't the HM characters, or Disney.
A/N: Done as fanfic challenge, peeps. The challenge was,
Write a story using this LINE from Miley Cyrus' "Goodbye" as a prompt:
"... and that time that you danced with me, with no music playin'."
This is one of my longer one-shots.
Enjoy this, and I'll love you if you review. :) If the characters seem a little OOC, it's because they're meant to be that way. Hence.. fanfiction. :)
And also, I'm sorry that the title sucks like crap. Teehee

Summary: He managed to lift her off her feet, and twirled her around, eliciting giggles, rising from her throat. They grew into full-blown laughter as they tumbled onto the bed, both laughing.
They were supposed to be studying - But the fact that they were now making out steadily on his bed...
It was funny how it started actually.
--rewind--
Miley adjusted her light, flowy skirt for what seemed like the 100th time as she stood at Oliver's front porch.
It was just a study session.
She really didn't have a reason as to why she had put so much effort into looking good.
It was this nagging feeling at the pit of her stomach - Like something was going to happen.
Okay, maybe she did.
It was one of the few times they'd ever been alone together - Without Lilly.
"Why, hello there, Miley - Don't you look pretty?" Oliver's mother smiled warmly, but added a knowing wink, making Miley flush furiously.
She held up her bag pointedly.
"Is Oliver here? We're supposed to be studying for that big.. Thing.. I mean Science Test tomorrow!" She flushed more, trying not to crack under his mother's knowing gaze.
Okay, she thought to herself. So I like Oliver a little. It's not like I'm expecting anything to happen - Oh god he's coming down the stairs--
She scowled, knocking her inner voice out of her head.
"Hey Oliver," she said brightly, stepping inside the house. Oliver's mom left, chuckling, as Miley closed the door lightly, slipping off her shoes.
"Miley, hey. Here - We'll go to my room..." Her cheeks burned as her body tingled a little as a reaction to those words. She followed him, ignoring the stare she was still getting from his mom.
Curse her for being a detective.
She grinned slightly as they reach the second floor landing. "Should I be scared of your room, Oliver?"
"Oh ha-ha, Miley. You've only been in there once."
"But that one time - I think your bed sheets tried to strangle me."
"What the heck were you doing on my bed?" His tone had a suggestive edge to it, as he winked flirtatiously at her.
"Oh get over yourself," she snapped jokingly. "I tripped over something in your room.. But I guess when you live with Jackson--" She froze as Oliver opened the door. "Did you actually.. Clean up?"
"It's not everyday you get a pretty girl over to study."
She nearly died about a gazillion times.
Once she got over the shock, which took about 3 seconds, she blinked, confused. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you were hitting on me.. You know.. Your best friend?"
He shrugged, confusing her again, and infuriating her.
Why must boys be so confusing?! And I was so sure I had them figured out.
He let himself slump down on the ground, where he had a large pile of books, and patted the ground next to him. She smiled, sitting down, and crossing her legs, before extracting her own books.
"Okay - So I was thinking.. We should start with the section on the human body--"
"--Yes we should," he said, his voice taking on a blank tone. She looked at him, to find him looking at her.. Curiously? She couldn't really peg the exact word for the way he was looking at her.
"Uh," she coughed. "As I was saying... We should start with.. the.. human.." She sighed in frustration. "I'm sorry, Oliver. Is there something on my face?"
"No," he said quickly. Then, she wasn't sure whether it was the trick of the light, but she could have sworn that his eyes had just flickered down to her lips.
"Okay..."
There was a pause as they held each other's gaze. He was the first to speak. talking as if he hadn't had any water for a while.
"Miley."
"What?"
"Do you know how to dance?"
"I.. I'm sorry - What?"
"Do you know how to dance?" he repeated, an eyebrow raised. His voice was suddenly stronger.
"Well - Yeah--"
"--I mean like slow dancing."
"How'd we get from studying to this? How is this related to science?" she asked, a little irritated.
He shrugged, locking his eyes on hers.
She found herself unwillingly sinking into his gaze.
"So, do you?"
She blinked, her mouth open slightly. "Huh? Do I what?"
He grinned mischievously, standing up.
She could feel her heart hammering against her ribcage. It threatened to burst out, as he extended a hand towards her.
"Milady?"
"Oliver," she started, protesting weakly. "We shouldn't--" He grabbed a hold of her hand, and she nearly melted from the direct contact. "Okay," she sighed, her gaze becoming unfocused. "What's up?"
"Dance with me," he murmured, so soft, she almost didn't hear him.
"But--" She tried to wriggle out of his grasp (albeit reluctantly) as he slipped his arms around her waist. She gasped, almost inaudibly, as her body was pulled flush against hers. "Science test," she whimpered weakly.
Oh, that was the last thing on her mind at the moment.
She was grateful that Lilly had that skateboarding tournament today.
"Oliver-- Stop--" Her actions contradicted her words though, as she slowly slid her hands up his chest and over his shoulders. "But.. But..."
"But what?" he teased.
"There's no music or anything."
"So?" He leaned his head down to her ear, using his nose to gently brush against her cheek. She shut her eyes, her breathing becoming uneven. Her stomach jumped up to her chest, and refused to come back down.
"So.. I --"
His hands were gently rubbing circles on her lower back, and she resisted the urge to moan softly from the touch. His nose was grazing her ear slightly, sending continuous shivers up and down her spine.
She buried her head into his shoulder, trying not to breathe, if not, she might have actually let a whine slip out.
And when he spoke, she thought she'd never experience something so sensory-annihilating ever again - Her body had never reacted this way to such gentle and soft nudges and touches.
His breath grazed out over her ear, the cool air making her jump. "Miley. A guy doesn't need a reason to hold the girl he's in love with, close to him."
Her heart actually thumped so wildly out of control, that her chest hurt, and her knees nearly gave way..
That's when she realized that he was actually swaying gently.
Who knew Oliver Oken could be such a romantic?
"I can't believe you're actually dancing," she mumbled, before moving her head off his shoulder, to look at him. He was looking at her, his eyes a mixture of different emotions and colours. She wondered what her eyes looked like at that moment.
"That's what you're thinking about right now?" He sounded rather disappointed.
She gaped at him, shaking her head, feeling like she had just killed a puppy or a hamster.
"And," she continued, her eyes meeting his. "I can't believe that you're in love with me." She stressed on the last word. She really couldn't believe it. She was his clumsy, terrible-at-sports friend, and she was so sure that's all she would ever be.
"Why not? You're amazing, you're smart, you're beautiful, and you're just downright sexy," he murmured, his eyes travelled to her lips again, as she inhaled sharply, her stomach whirling. It dropped back to its original place.
"Somebody's confident," she mumbled, smirking at him as they leaned in a fraction of an inch.
"It was just the truth," he responded, smiling. "I think you're perfect."
"Nobody's perfect," she whispered, her eyes wandering his face, taking in all his features, from his chocolate brown eyes, which seemed a little darker now, to his nose, to his lips, which seemed to be calling out to her.
I wonder...
His lips formed a smile, as his eyes sparkled. "Then you'll just be 'nobody'," he mumbled, closing the distance between them.
Miley shut her eyes involuntarily as his lips touched hers, tentative at first, as he pulled back a fraction of an inch, then pressing his lips against hers again. It continued like that, slow, soft, light kisses, until they became more and more prolonged, and intense, yet with the same amount of gentleness.
The first kiss was like an baby firework, a tiny spark, but as they continued, it was like a show - More and more, just exploding, before the crescendo, which was the longest, and the most exciting.
He was the one to pull back, capturing her lower lip between his teeth lightly, and tugging, before pulling back completely, his arms still around her waist, although she could have sworn they slipped lower.
"So," he breathed, as he panted lightly. "What did you think?"
"I think.. I think I love you," she replied softly, cracking open her eyes to peer at him. He looked decidedly ecstatic, as he grinned widely.
"Say that again," he murmured, leaning back down.
"I think.. wait.. I know I love you," she murmured, eyes travelling to his lips again.
"That's a relief," he joked. "'Cause I love you too," he said, more seriously, before smashing his mouth against hers. He managed to lift her off her feet, and twirled her around, eliciting giggles, softly rising from her throat.
The giggles grew into full-blown laughter as they, tripped, tumbling onto the bed, both laughing
"Do you think your sheets will attack me again?"
He shrugged, twirling a strand of her hair between his fingers. "Doesn't matter, I'll protect you." She giggled, as he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him, as she set her head in the crook of his neck.
"Oliver?" she began, voice soft and timid.
"Hmm?"
"Will you kiss me again?"
He didn't respond, simply moving one arm from around her, making her whine in protest, but he tilted her chin up, and pressed his lips against hers.
She felt the fireworks again, igniting in her stomach, as she balled her hands into fists, clutching his shirt.
Heck. Yes.
She could definitely get used to this.
Awww. If you if bore with me, and plowed through that horrible excuse for a fanfic, thanks and Congrats. :) I LOVE YOU. Review please, and tell me how badly or.. maybe how well I did. ;)
