Hi guys! Well this is one of my first fanfics under this account. I hope you like it. I am a complete Azureshipper, with respect to the other ships. Anyway here is the summary!
When Tèa pushes Seto out of the way of a speeding car, she saves his life. Only she isn't so lucky and winds up in the hospital. Out of a foreign emotion to him, he brings her into his home. What will happen under the Kaiba roof, especially with Noa and Mokuba.
Ok so I'm not good with summaries, but this fic was inspired by many fanfics but I will say that Dancing with the Devil was at the top of my list of inspiration. So to the author, YOU ROCK! Now that I'm done ranting, on with the story!
Seto sat in the hospital room. He was staring through the window at a picture perfect day, only something was off about this day. He turned to stare at the person who was sleeping in the bed beside him. He didn't understand why she would do this, why she would save him. Somehow she had enough sense in the panic to protect him from the danger that would come to him.
That 'she' was Tèa Gardner.
-Flashback-
Seto was walking down the sidewalk toward his office. Why he had given the driver's the day off, was beyond his comprehension. This meeting would mean the merger of two major companies in Tokyo and here he was walking to it.
He turned his head to hear someone coming up toward him. Fate seemed to be with someone else because here was the nosy cheerleader of his archenemy coming. There was something that seemed 'off' with her, but he shrugged it off. What did it matter with her emotions. She was just a dumb girl only focusing on friendship and some other such nonsense.
When the light finally changed he started his walk across the street. Only a nearby speeding car, that had somehow escaped his peripheral vision, had other plans. Tèa was the first to see said car and made a beeline to Seto.
"KAIBA! LOOK OUT!" she screamed.
He turned around to see who would dare scream at him, when suddenly he was pushed to the ground and the next thing he would see was a human being flying through the air and landing on the ground with a thud.
-End Flashback-
His thoughts were interrupted when a nurse came in with a calm smile that made Seto almost cringe at the memory of a certain brunette.
"She really is a trooper." The nurse said quietly so not to wake the sleeping woman. "To think of others in such a sad time in her life…" She trailed off shaking her head.
Seto raised an eyebrow to this comment. " Not that I really care, but why would she be sad? I've known her since high school and she's always been an optimistic twit."
The nurse's smile soon faded. "She found out this morning here at the hospital that her parents are dead. They were killed by a mugger and died before we could have a chance to treat them. She was devastated and ran out of here. Then well…I guess we know where she went after that."
Seto stared at Tèa again. He couldn't believe it. The nurse seemed to have a valid point. How could she think of others in such a time as this, and more importantly why him? It was true that he had been mean to her and the rest of her friends, but in all honesty he didn't hate her specifically. He hated her friends and more importantly Yugi and Joey. The others he didn't seem to care about and the feeling seemed to be vice versa coming from Tèa, or at least that's what he thought until this day. He kept trying to figure it out when his cell phone brought him out of his little trance. It was Mokuba, and upon excusing himself, he answered it outside the room.
"Big Brother!" Mokuba cried into the phone. "Are you ok? What happened? Who saved you?"
"Mokuba stop. Just listen. I'm ok, and you wouldn't believe who saved me even if I told you."
"Try me, Seto."
"Gardner. She-"
"TEA! Is she ok?"
"Mokuba stop screaming and listen. You're acting worse than Noa does with thunderstorms. (A/N: That may be used later. Your call!) We were at the crosswalk and she pushed me out of the way just in time for her to get hit, instead of me."
"But why would she do that? I thought she hated you."
Seto sighed. Mokuba was always the blunt one of the family. "I thought so too, and to be honest, I don't care why she did it, but I at least want to know. Just stay with Noa until I return home, and don't break anything."
Mokuba giggled. "Ok we won't."
After their good-byes were said and Seto had put the phone away, the nurse came up to him and smiled. "She's awake and coherent. I wouldn't stress her out too much right now, but you can go and see her. In the meantime, we're going to see what we can do with her living arrangements."
"Living arrangements? Doesn't she have a house to live in?"
The nurse nodded. "Yes, but her parents couldn't afford it and called on a loan but it didn't go through. They seemed to board up the house overnight, so she basically has nowhere to go."
"I have a solution to the problem. Just do what you can in the meantime, got it?"
Meanwhile, back at the Kaiba mansion, Mokuba had just finished telling Noa what was going on.
"But why would Seto be there if he didn't care in the first place?" Noa asked staring at the ceiling while leaning back in his chair.
Mokuba shrugged. "Hard to say, but I think he does have something for her, or he wouldn't be there right now."
Noa smirked. "You think we should find out in our own way?"
"Why?"
"Well, why not?"
Mokuba laughed. "Well I never thought of it that way."
