A/N: Wow, haven't been here in a long time. I am sorry to say that my first return fics are senseless drabbles. This takes place at the begining of KHII.
Mere Shadows by Ransomed Heart
Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts
It was all a mistake, really. An innocent whim on her part, not that Nobodies were especially given to having whims. Perhaps it was curiosity then. Whatever the reasoning behind it, she was drawn to him.
Her pale white dress seemed to glow in the moonlight streaming through the window. Despite its daytime appearance and name, Twilight Town, like all things, did eventually fall into darkness. An amused smile traced across her pale lips as a small, breathy giggle escaped.
Roxas didn't stir from his slumber. He was breathing softly, faintly smiling as one of Sora's memories drifted across his dreamscape.
The room had an eerie hush over it, like a fragile spell waiting to be broken. The whole town actually felt that way, as though any moment the sky could come crashing down around it, shattering the perfect dream world. She didn't like this place very much. It made her feel even more like a nothing, to be in a town that didn't exist. And she shouldn't have been there. She was supposed to be guarding Sora.
But here in this bed lay a kindred spirit of sorts. They had been created together, at the some time. She felt connected to him. She stepped forward lightly, not wanting to break the silence of the room in this digital prison.
Naminé knelt down next to the bed, folding her arms and propping her head on them as she studied the boy further. A body and soul, but no heart to love. Yet they both lived, if one could call it living, and breathed and talked and moved. But they did not exist, they were only the opposites of two teens in love.
Overcome with the idea of it, Naminé leaned her head down slightly, gently pressing her lips to Roxas'. Shadows could not feel, but they mimicked the motions of their persons. She had the amusing thought of what Axel's face would be like if he saw that, and then drew back.
Crystal blue eyes stared up at her in half-sleep confusion. Naminé lurched back, propelling herself away from the bed. DiZ was not going to like this…
Roxas sat up, rubbing his eyes as though the girl would vanish back to dreamland if he rubbed hard enough. When she was still there, sprawled awkwardly on his bedroom floor, he blinked and spoke. "Who are you?"
Recovering herself, she stood and turned around. She half-smiled over her shoulder at him. "I'm Nobody. I just...I wanted to meet you, at least once."
She vanished out of the room, chiding herself mentally and deciding to make sure that moment never happened in his mind. She was, after all, a memory witch.
