Hey everyone. This story was brought to by Herbology Hangout, and Muggle Art: Masterpieces assignment on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Herbology Hangout I wrote for the platonic pairing of Newt/Theseus and the character of Tina Goldstein. For Muggle Art: Masterpieces I wrote for task number 1 Van Gogh which was to write a fic set at night. I haven't seen the second Fantastic Beasts yet so I'm just guessing at the characteristics of Theseus Scamander. So just a small warning that he might be out of character in this story. So without further ado I hope you all enjoy A Scamander Night Out.
Tina looked up at the starry sky as she, Newt, and Newt's brother Theseus walked down the street to one of Tina's favorite restaurants in Daigon Alley. Ever since she could remember Tina used to love to look at the stars at night. They made her feel like she wasn't alone in the world.
"It seems we've lost someone, Newt," Theseus laughed as he caught sight of how entranced his sister-in-law Tina was in the starry sky. "How is it my animal loving little brother found someone like you, Tina?"
Tina laughed as she was broken from her thoughts. "You wouldn't believe me even if I told you, Mr. Scamander," she told him sharing a look with Newt.
"We actually met in America," Newt explained. "While I was taking..."
"I think it best to leave it at you met in America," Theseus replied with the sigh he usually reserved for Newt. "That way if you were doing anything illegal I won't know about. Or feel an obligation not lie to my bosses about it." A wry chuckle left his mouth. "Keeps us both in the clear with the Ministry."
"It wasn't anything that needed to be kept from the Ministry's attention..."
"With you, little brother, it always is something that needs to be kept away from the Ministry's attention."
"How do you enjoy working for the Ministry, Mr. Scamander?" Tina asked hoping to avoid an argument. "Newt tells me you are one of the higher up in the Ministry."
Newt threw Tina a grateful look as Theseus turned to look at Tina with a smile. "Please, call me Theseus," the older Scamander told Tina. "Mr. Scamander makes me look for my father. Isn't that right, Newt?"
Newt nodded in answer.
"To answer your question though. I enjoy my work at the Ministry." Theseus launch into a long talk about all the new laws he was helping to make for the wizarding community. "I'm sure you have a lot experience in making laws for your own government. I mean your old government. Of course."
"I was an Auror before. I never actually got to have a hand in making the rules or I still would be one." A smile graced Tina's face as she pointed to the restaurant. "We're here. I'm sure you'll like this place as much as we do."
That night all talk of work and anything else that would cause an argument was put aside. Tina found herself seeing a side of the Scamander brothers she never thought she'd ever see. The side that still actually cared about the other and she was happy to be able to see that.
