Shippou's New Technique
(just a short one-shot this time)
It was a peaceful day in Sengoku Jidai; the warm sunlight reflecting in Shippou's mood as he skipped happily on the dirt road.
"Shippou looks happier than usual." Kagome whispered to her hanyou companion and noticed that he had a very confident smirk on his face.
And that made her very worried.
"Well Kagome," the arrogance plain in his tone." I have been giving training sessions for Shippou."
"Training sessions?" She repeated slowly, trying to make sense of the strange concept.
Inuyasha nodded his head. "The little brat is growing up, might as well teach him some fighting skills."
Sango and Miroku, who walked a little behind them, had overheard the conversation.
"I shudder to think what kind of destructive skill you have taught him, Inuyasha." Sango said, equally disbelievingly.
The hanyou's smile broadened – if that in itself was possible. "Trust me; this is the ultimate technique. You'll see."
And as if on cue, a violent, swirling whirlwind rapidly made its way directly towards the group. Kagome struggled to cover her eyes from the dust threatening to sting her eyes. But she couldn't, because to her dismay, she found her hands being held by a very familiar pair of large hands.
"Hello Kagome," a smooth voice said, making Kagome's hands sweat uncontrollably. "You've been well? I see that you're still travelling with inukkoro. I don't know what you see in him, the useless half-breed. A full-blooded youkai is much more suited to your tastes."
"Are you alright Inuyasha?" Sango asked, after seeing Kouga had jumped onto the hanyou's head to get to the young miko.
However, Inuyasha didn't answer and Sango could see him clawing his hands into the dirt in obvious irritation, trying to calm himself down. Slowly, he pushed himself off the ground, causing Kouga to easily jump off his head.
"On the ground like a real dog, eh, inukkoro?" The ookami mocked.
But it was Shippou who answered back. "Don't you dare insult him, you skinny wolf," using the same insult that Inuyasha always used for the ookami, which made Kagome slightly upset. "You always brag how good you are, I'm sick of it. Now," he made his most fearsome face he could muster; "now you have me to deal with."
Kouga sneered, "Oh I'm so terrified of a little runt and a dumb hanyou. I'm shaking with fear."
Inuyasha swiftly picked up the kitsune by the legs and pointed him at the sneering ookami. "Shippou, this smart-mouthed idiot doesn't think we're scary enough. What do you say to that?"
Shippou just growled, showing his short, sharp incisors.
"That's telling him." And Inuyasha threw the kitsune straight at Kouga.
The following events caused Kagome to scream in fright at the horrific scene. Sango tried to cover the miko's eyes, but couldn't help cringing herself as she watched the display.
After a few minutes, Shippou had finished his achievement, standing proudly in front of his victim. The dust settled revealing the damage; the mangled, twitching body of the ookami with his head badly shaven and patches of missing fur, showing more skin from the most indecent of places.
Shippou spat out the fur and hair from his mouth, but the smile did not vanish.
"Shippou," Inuyasha said proudly, "you're my hero," causing the kitsune's grin to grow wider.
A wide-eyed Miroku stepped forward to observe the bald patches, "Ah, the most horrifying technique of them all, the fear of all men." He said calmly before shaking his head. "When he wakes up, he is going to have years of embarrassment."
Inuyasha simply nodded his head.
The End.
