Hello readers, and welcome to my first nuzlocke and story on this site. If you never heard of a nuzlocke, it's a challenge where a player sets rules for him/her to follow in their game play. I will follow these rules for my nuzlocke challenge: Catch the first pokemon in a route and nothing else; when pokemon faints it's considered unusable, and must be boxed or release; no reviving items; must name every pokemon; and you can't catch the same pokemon or its evolutions. I know these rules are basic, but I'm not doing the hardest nuzlocke out there. I also put music into at the bottom in each chapter to fit the mood of a chapter or character. Check it out after or while you're reading this. Now enjoy yourselves.
Ayako slept in her dark room. Nothing woke her from her deep slumber. The room was motionless, without a sound until water blasted on Ayako's face. The young teen gasped in shock, and went backwards to the edges of her bed. Ayako looked at the offender. Her purple eyes narrowed at a happy Marill. Marill had his hands on his white patch on his stomach. The blue mouse looked at her with her round blue eyes. He smiled like Ayako's room was the happiest place to be in. He wagged his tail, which was a blue ball attached to a zigzag line.
Ayako got frustrated at the blue round rodent. Marill is one of the living things she should blame. The other was near.
"Lyra, where are you?", Ayako asked.
A young lady was in front of Ayako's room. She wore blue suspenders over a red t-shirt. A white puffy hat with a pokéball symbol was on top of her head. The hat covered some of her brown hair. Her hair was tied into two pigtails. She walked with her white tennis shoes, and was in front of Ayako.
"Right here", Lyra answered.
"Lyra what did I tell you about waking me up", Ayako said. "Never wake me up or I'll do something terrible."
Lyra smiled.
"The most terrible thing you ever did to me was sleep again."
"Exactly. That's what I'm going to do right about now."
"Oh no you're not."
Lyra grabbed Ayako's hand, and made a hasty get away from her room. The hallway's lights revealed that Ayako wore red stripped over white pajamas. The pajamas were long sleeves and pants.
Lyra dragged Ayako down the stairs, and into the kitchen. Ayako's mother, Aki, sipped her tea at the table. Aki wore her usual plain all purple blouse with her purple skirt. Her brown hair was long and curly like her daughter's. Aki looked at the two teenage girls, and grinned.
"Hi, Lyra", Aki greeted.
"Hi, Mrs. Kusa", Lyra said.
"You finally got her from her room?"
"Yeah, but it was easier than I thought. Ayako must have lost a lot of weight."
"Oh shut up", Ayako interrupted. "Right now, I want to go to bed and stay there until morning comes."
"Even if it means not getting your first pokémon," her mother said.
Ayako scratched her head.
"What?"
"You forgot this is the day you first start your pokémon journey", her mother explained. "Professor Elm left these three pokéballs in case you overslept."
"Overslept?"
"Yeah, it's seven o'clock at night", Lyra said.
"Oh dear!", Ayako said. "I slept that late?"
Aki and Lyra sighed. They will never get how could she slept this long, except her own father did this in his youth.
"Alright Ayako", Aki said. "I want you to pick one of these starters."
Ayako looked at the balls. They had printed names of each starter: Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita.
She glanced at them and smirked.
"I know what I want", Ayako said. "I choose…."
