It was a quiet evening in the Weasley household. Molly was in the kitchen cleaning up, Arthur locked in his shed, with the kids lying about in the living room, without a sound.
"When's it going to end? This silence," Harry asked himself. Sighing, he stood up and asked Ginny if she wanted to join him for a stroll. Nodding, she rose, and linking their hands together, they left the house. Harry led her towards the edge of the forest, towards the pond where he, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione spent so many afternoons swimming & lazing about.
"Harry, where are we going?" asked Ginny playfully.
Harry smiled, raised their joined hands up to press a kiss to her knuckles and replied, "You'll see."
"Harry," she groaned with a smile.
"We're almost there," he assured her. Within moments they arrived. Ginny gasped as she took in the beauty that the couple beheld before them. The waning moon glimmered its reflection on the surface of the tranquil, smooth pond. The grass was green, the flowers colourful, and the stars plentiful, even at 9 p.m.
"Like it," murmured Harry into Ginny's ear.
"I love it," she sighed. "It's beautiful. How did you find this?"
Harry shrugged. "I was out here one night, thinking, and I realized that I just had to show you."
"While you were out here, what were you thinking about?" Ginny asked hesitantly, as Harry's arm stole over her shoulders in an effort to keep her warm from the slight chill in the air. Even though it was mid-August, the nights were cool.
"You," he answered quietly. "How beautiful you are, your amazing personality. Life, how I want to spend the rest of mine with you. That sort of thing." He shrugged sheepishly.
"Oh, Harry," Ginny murmured. "I love you." She turned to face her boyfriend and looped her arms around his neck. His arms wrapped around her slim waist as he hugged her closer. "I love you so much, Harry," she repeated as her fingers played with the hair at his nape.
Harry lowered his hand and covered her lips with his warm, soft ones. Pulling back, he whispered, "I love you too, Gin." Harry tucked a tendril of hair behind his girlfriend's ear.
Sighing, Ginny laid her head on his shoulder. It didn't escape her notice that they fit perfectly together. Her eyes were drawn to the moon in the sky. "I hope that wherever Remus is, he isn't suffering," she whispered.
Harry nuzzled his face into her long, red hair. "I have a feeling that he's happy. I know I am. Ginny," he turned her face to look at him. "I know that the past year has been hard on you, on all of us. I just want you to know that whatever happens, I'm here for you. I won't leave you again. I don't think I could stand it." He gently brushed her lips with his.
Ginny replied with all the love in her heart, "I know you won't leave me again, Harry. I love you." Harry lowered his head and kissed her. To Ginny, it was like their first kiss all over again. She forgot her name, where she was, everything. The only thing that mattered was the boy, no man's, arms that held her so lovingly, so strongly.
Harry lifted his head to look into Ginny's eyes. "Somehow, Ginny, I have a feeling that everything's going to be all right from now on."
And with that, the couple turned to gaze up at the stars, which twinkled merrily in the wake of a new start.
Awww, I just love a good Harry/Ginny romance.
