Hi this is my part in a memory of the people who died on 11th September 2001. May they be happy in heaven and may God be looking over the ones who had lost loved ones.
My random fact of the day: I'm not religious.
Disclaimer: I don't own a thing!
Paul drummed his fingers on the desk. Why am I here? He asked himself. Oh yeah, his father's work day 'bring your kid to work' thing.
He glanced over at the girl he loved. Dawn was brushing her silky navy hair. A man with the same navy hair walked up to her. He said something and she pointed to a pile of paper.
Paul took a deep breath. He got out of his seat and stepped up to the navy-haired girl.
"Um, Dawn?" he asked.
Dawn looked up and smiled. "Yeah?"
"I-I" he looked out the window for words. But something else caught his attention. A plane, flying right at them. "We need to go! Now!"
Paul grabbed her wrist but Dawn slipped it out of his grasp. He didn't realize.
The plane hit her window and her. Paul heard her scream and bit back tears. He felt a hard object hit his head. Paul's world slowly turned black.
He opened his eyes to see a man above him.
"He's up!" the man yelled.
A familiar face appeared next to the man's.
"Reggie." Paul muttered. "Where's Dawn?" Paul sat up.
A young man yelled, "I've found a girl! She's barley breathing! Get paramedics!"
More people ran to the girl. Her navy hair was caked with scarlet blood and her clothes were ripped.
Paul jumped from the ground and ran to her. "Dawn!"
He pushed through the crowd. "Dawn! Please speak to me…"he trailed off tears sliding off his face. A weak dainty hand toughed his.
"I love you Paul" Dawn weakly mumbled.
"I love you too Dawn."
Dawn's eyes slowly closed and a single tear ran down her cheek. Her chest slowly eased to nothing.
Paul leaned down to her eye and whispered, "I'll never forget you, Troublesome."
September 11th 2011. Ten years later
Paul walked with a bouquet to the memorial opening. When he got there he found Dawn's name.
He placed the flowers below it.
"I love you Troublesome." He muttered.
I almost cried writing this. I'm sorry for all those who lost someone that day in 2001.
