"Look at the rain!" exclaimed Lincoln. "Thunder and lightning, too. I love spooky weather!"

"Did you have fun at school today?" asked Lori.

Before anyone could answer there was an enormous BOOM of thunder.

Lana and Lincoln yelled, "Wooohoo!"

"I know the perfect game to play when we get to my house," said Lincoln.

"Welcome to the Hotel Lincoln," Lincoln greets his guests.

"Please come in and make yourselves at home."

"Wow, it's so big!" Lola says.

"This is nothing," answers Lincoln. "You should see my other hotels."

Lincoln's house made a perfect hotel.

"I'd like a room, please," Lola requested.

"Me too," said Clyde. "I mean a different room. Maybe one with a TV." "Of course," Lincoln replied politely. "That shouldn't be a problem." There was a flash of lighting. Whoo! Tap, tap, tap.

The wind whistled and tree branches tapped on the windowpanes.

"What was that sound?" asked Clyde nervously.

"Sounds like a ghost," Lola said, trembling.

"Ghost? The Hotel Lincoln has no ghosts," Lincoln answered firmly. "Follow me, please."

"This is your room, Lola," said Lincoln, opening a door.

"No offense, Lincoln," said Lola, "but I'd like another room. This one smells like frogs."

"I'll take it," said Clyde. "I already smell like frogs. Does it come with room service?"

"Of course," Lincoln answered, opening the door to a second room. "All rooms do. They also come with fluffy towels and chocolates on the pillows. That's what makes the Hotel Lincoln the fanciest hotel in the world."

"I love my new room!" cried Lola. "This is the best hotel ever! Brring! A bell rang from downstairs.

"Excuse me," said Lincoln. "I think I have another customer."

"I'm sorry, but the Hotel Lincoln is completely full," Lincoln told Lana. "No fair," complained Lana. "Lori! Lincoln says all the rooms in his hotel are taken."

"Lincoln, I'm sure you can find a room for Lana somewhere in your large hotel," said Lori.

"This is our last room," Lincoln announced. "You'll love the privacy. Plus the soaps are free. But you'll have to leave when the other guests need to use the bathroom."

"Never mind. I don't want to stay at this hotel anyway," said Lana. "Besides, I heard there were ghosts."

"Ghosts!" repeated Lola and Clyde.

Room service kept Lincoln very busy-- too busy to play with his sister. He delivered lunches, made beds, cleaned up dog toys, and soothed frightened guests. "It's just the hotel laundry," reassured Lincoln.

That gave Lana an idea.

Suddenly there was a loud bang and everything went dark. "HEY! WHO TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS?" yelled Lola, alarmed. "The storm must have knocked the power out," guessed Clyde.

"Or a ghost did," whispered Lola.

"I told you, Lola," said Lincoln, "there are no ghosts at this hotel."

"BOO!"

"Aah! Ghost!" screamed Lola.

"Aah! I see it too!" screamed Clyde.

"Where? There are no ghosts at the Hotel Lincoln," Lincoln repeated.

Lola and Clyde huddled together. "Well, I saw a ghost," said Lola, "and I don't want to stay in this spooky hotel anymore." "Me neither," Clyde agreed. "This hotel is haunted."

HMM. If I do have a ghost in my hotel, then I'm just going to have to get rid of it, Lincoln thinks. Good thing I have a Ghost-o-Meter.

"I knew it was you, Lana!" said Lincoln. Then he called downstairs. "Lori, Lana is scaring my guests."

"Well, Lincoln, maybe Lana just wants to play," Lori called back. "Hmm," said Lincoln. "I know! Lana, how would you like to be the room-service waiter?"

"Cool!" said Lana.

"Welcome to breakfast at the ghost-free Hotel Lincoln," said Lana the next morning. "Today we are serving our world-famous pancakes."

"Yum," said Lola.

"Double yum," said Clyde.

"More pancakes, anyone?" asked Lori.
