Artemis was my mother for me. The hunters were my big sisters. They taught me how to fight. They taught me how to hunt and survive. They taught me many things. But not how to be a witch.
Okay, first of all, I'm Lauren Bergstum. My mother was a witch and she was murdered when I was… 5 months old. Yeah… You can feel sorry for me, but I don't care. The world is better without her. Besides, there's nothing to miss, since I never really met- knew- her. I heard she did some pretty nasty things when she was alive. She even tried to kill a god. More specifically, she tried to kill my father, Apollo. Yeah… I'm not kiddin'. Of course it didn't work. He is immortal right? I bet the spell didn't even tickle him.
That's actually the reason why she died.
No, Apollo didn't kill her.
He left her. Obviously. Honestly, who would stay with someone who attempted murder? I guess he (gag) loved her.
Anyways...
Hecate was the one who killed her. Hecate hates all witches and wizards, so when Apollo told the gods what my mother did, Hecate killed her. She was going to kill me, but father saved me.
Cheers for him.
Apollo asked Lady Artemis to take care of me until I was old enough to go to Hogwarts, a school of magic. (You have to be 11 to enter it). Lady Artemis took care of me and taught me all she knew. All the hunters were my friends and we had fun going on quests with our huntress, our goddess.
Technically, I wasn't a real Hunter, since I didn't take the blessing...
But that doesn't matter anymore, does it? I'm leaving tomorrow, anyways.
Yep. You heard me right. I'm leaving. Tomorrow.
Yeah... Unfortunately for me, tomorrow is my eleventh birthday, and I'm going to receive my Hogwarts letter. The one that's going to say that I can go to the school. Yay.
To be honest, I hate being a daughter of Apollo. We can't do anything cool, and we don't have any special powers. Sure Lady Artemis is his sister, so technically she's my aunt, but still. I mean, Zoë, a friend of mine, is a daughter of Atlas. She can do super cool things while she is fighting, and what can I do? Sing the monsters to sleep? Oh no, it doesn't work like that.
Honestly...
I wish my father was Ares the war god. Yeah... That would be pretty awesome. Or... Hades. Or... I don't know... Just someone else, whose powers aren't based around arts and crafts.
Well then. I don't have much of a choice. Actually I don't have a choice at all.
Am I stating the obvious?
I thought so...
