It was a hot day and not very much was going on. The United States Army was setting up a checkpoint on the boarder of Mexico and Texas, trying to keep the Illegal Immigrants from crossing the border. On the out skirts of the checkpoint stood the one man in charge of the whole operation, James Knight. James was the one man that volunteered for the job, being that nobody else wanted it, and everybody else thought it was death trap.

"Sir, the main gate is up and running and all guards are posted" a soldier said as ran up to James position saluting him as he stopped in front of him.

"Good work Sergeant, Keep me posted if anything changes." James said as he returned the salute. "And let everybody else know not to salute me out here, I don't want to get hit by a sniper."

The soldier dropped his hand down, "Roger Sir, Ill inform the post." HE then ran back to the gate to keep an eye on the gate.

James walked back towards his tent to inform his superiors what has happened. Once he entered his tent he grabbed a bottle of water off his table and made his way to the radio equipment on the other side of the tent.

The tent its self was big enough to provide about 15 men enough space to live comfortably, although James converted it into a one man tent. In the front of the tent when you first walked in was his briefing table and a few chairs. Next to that was his map board with a map of the checkpoint and a few outpost within the area, on the opposite side was his personal effects and a few odds and end. Once you got to back of the tent sat his cot and his radio equipment. Although it was pretty empty, it had everything he needed to command his post with efficiency.

James sat down at his radio table and punched in the numbers to his Headquarters, "Spartan Base, this is Viper 6, over" After a few seconds of static a voice came back over the radio.

"Viper 6, this is Spartan Base, go ahead with Transmission."

James took a sip from his water, "Spartan Base, Checkpoint is fully operational and assuming control of border crossing. Break" he paused for a few seconds and gathered his thought, "Border is secure and all Access points are blocked off, the men are stationed at key points with in the checkpoint. Standing by for next assignment, Over"

The radio went silent for a few seconds then came back on, "Orders are as follows, Continue operational readiness at border crossing, at nightfall move to OP Charlie and make your way to Mexico soil. Once there you will make your way to Checkpoint Foxtrot and await further orders. You will be contacted by sun-up. Acknowledge."

James grabbed the transceiver, "I copy all orders and will move out at nightfall. Over" the radio came back, "This is Spartan Base, Out"

James looked around his tent for all his equipment that he had next to his bunk. "I'm not leaving without my gear." James picked up his body armor and his weapon and made his way out the tent to the ammo point.
