Christmas at the Burrow wasn't its usual affair. Two years after the battle, everyone was still down; even Teddy could sense an aura of sadness. Most of the Weasleys slumped as they sat, biting their lips or nibbling their nails in hopes of distraction. George, with his pale profile and messy hair, was clearly the most affected by the deaths at battle, especially his twin's. He sat, crossing and u crossing his legs, scribbling things on a worn piece of parchment, before crossing it out. It was obvious that he couldn't come up with any ideas without his brother.

With Molly's meal in their bellies, they quickly became drowsy. But Percy, the third eldest, aged twenty-four had something that he hoped would cheer everyone up. He had told everyone that he was simply fetching a Christmas card for someone, and excused himself to his bedroom. Now he sat, a little straighter up than everyone else, with his girlfriend, Hermione, curled into his side. He had planned this moment out precisely, knowing exactly when to do it. That moment was about to come.

Mr Weasley was the first to stand up, soon followed by everybody else.

"Hey! Wait!" Percy said, not shouting, but speaking loud and clear. The entire Weasley clan, with the additions of Harry, Hermione and Percy's best friend, Oliver Wood, turned around to face Percy.

"Hermione, c-could you come her for me a second?" He asked, his voice wavering. Hermione nodded and walked in three steps to him. He looked deep into her eyes, such a lovely, chocolate hue, and took a deep breath, sinking down on one knee.

"Hermione Jean Granger, I have known you since you were eleven, and was put under your spell when you were eighteen. Now that you are twenty, and we have known and loved each other unconditionally, will you do the honours of becoming Hermione Jean Weasley?" he looked back into her eyes, after a ten second pause. The pause unnerved him, making him think she had rejected him. But the sight that met his eyes when he looked up made his face crack into a smile of relief. Hermione was nodding, tears of joy streaming down her face.

"Yes. Yes I will!" She choked out, as he stood up. As soon as he regained his footing, she threw herself into his arms, kissing her him at a level somewhere between passionately and tenderly. The friends and family clapped, and George even managed a wolf-whistle.

At midnight, everyone was in bed. Hermione had chosen to stay with Percy, her smile never fading. They were laying in bed, Hermione slotted perfectly into his side, his arms wrapped around her.

"I love you, Percy." She whispered.

"I love you too. Always."

He didn't know why that statement made her eyes drip with tears.
