"No! Robin, you cannot do this!"

Marian raised herself from the bed on trembling arms. Even with sickness sapping the strength from her body, she was able to send him a glare that would have made lesser men start quaking in their boots.

"Marian," Robin pleaded, trying to get her to lie back down, but she resisted. "Calm down. All this worrying isn't good for the baby."

At the mention of the child growing inside her, Marian consented to lie down, but she continued to scold him for what she deemed a "foolish" plan.

"You cannot risk your life like that! What little people know about the Dark One isn't good, and that's even before they try to steal from him, like you're going to do!"

"Love, those are all just rumours. No one knows anything about the Dark One, except that he's in possession of quite a few magical objects. One of those should be able to heal you. Besides," he moved closer, sure that she wouldn't throw anything at him now that she had managed to calm down. "If I have to risk my life to make sure that your life is saved, then I will do so a hundred times over. You and our child are worth more to me than all the gold in the Sherriff's coffers, and I will do anything for you two."

Marian sighed, knowing that she was fighting a losing battle. "Fine," she conceded. "You can go, and I will stay with Much until you return and send a message. But you had better come back safely or so help me – "

Robin kissed her soundly before she could finish her threat. "Relax, love. When have my plans not worked out in the end?"

"I can think of quite a few instances, Robin Hood, where you and your merry men only got away because luck was on your side that day!"

Robin smiled, glad that she had enough energy to tease him. "Well then, luck shall be on my side today!" he proclaimed. He grabbed his bow and quiver from besides the door. Then he gave one last look to his wife. "Don't worry about me, Marian," he told her. "I promised: no matter what, I will always come back to you."

With that, he pulled his hood over his head and departed, beginning his journey to the castle of the one called Rumpelstiltskin.
