This is my first story, so please tell me if I had made any grammar errors or if there is anything that doesn't make sense. Enjoy!
The world of Pokémon.
Most people would see it as a happy, care-free world where everyone you would meet was nice and had very little crime. All the towns had centers to take care of you, and gyms to test your partners' strengths. The only hate you would get would be from would-be rivals, and that crime only came once in a while. However, underneath all this is a world of violence, crime and corruption; hidden from certain public eye and was made to look like the place was nearly perfect. In fact; the peaceful world we see right now, wasn't nice as it used to be.
We all heard of the huge Pokémon wars back when humans fought against them and with the Pokémon as humans fought each other. Most regions were taken over time and time again over the past centuries. The world back then was so caught up in war, gyms and tournaments weren't even thought of. After years of fighting though; the wars started getting shorter and shorter in years, thanks to new technology, to the point of people were not caring anymore about the fighting that could be happening a few miles away, or even knowing that they were going on. Now, though, crime and violence have been going up the past few years, and the police are trying their best to stop or minimize it.
There is a city in Unova, called Clevele City, that is an epicenter for this crime spike lately that was the result of a man named Calvin Taurman, who had taken over in a plot to make his own new type of police state and letting crime and drugs run rampant, and changing many of the child-friendly spots in this once-vacation able city. The mayor went into hiding, and many people are cowering in fear or live out in the streets cause of the new enforcement agency that was set up to keep protesters and enemies of the new order down and out of the way, capturing many that stood up to the new order. The local police tried their best to stop Calvin; but they didn't match up to the Pokémon his secret forces had, and they couldn't contact the other cities for help because Calvin would intercept and erase the messages. People themselves couldn't even leave; the enforcement would just keep everyone in, worried that just one person would contact the Unovan military and ruin everything.
But, there is hope. An underground system of resistance fighters have been hiding from Calvin and trying to find where he is hiding, since he has no HQ in the main city. They are unique in that they don't fight with Pokémon; they fight with some of the latest guns and equipment available to the public. They have been fighting for weeks taking out many patrols and releasing the Pokémon to the wild that were forced to serve, and always left no trace so Calvin won't find their own base. Right now, they are on the verge of winning this war.
However; you know a huge bummer to all of this? Ash and co. are going to run right into the middle of this mess and realize that life isn't as peaceful as they thought it was…
