UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
One step forward – One step back
A memory paused, rewinding its tracks
Lost in the moment, it plays over again
Play, pause, rewind, all in her head
Not again….
Time slows, faces hitting the ground
Then time stops, as their hands reach out
The fire burns all around…
The memory ends with words left unwritten
And the pen stands up from where those words were hidden
Time continued going though that memory stopped there
Her insides tattered and torn, a missing page in a book stripped bare
the smell of burnt flesh of a body was still there…
Cold rain skydived from the clouds
Thickening the air and covering the ground
Footsteps were heard making light, fragile sounds
Red liquid flashed before her when the lightning came
She saw the face that had forgotten her name
The face was gone as it consumed darkness again
And the footsteps continued moving then
That was the face of her missing friend…

While saltwater made its way off her petite nose
Knee's gave out, splashing the mud on her face
Her fingers traced the tattered, inscribed name
Aang…
Through the blanket of rain, soft words could be heard
She'd been here before, waiting for him to return
A long stemmed rose found a place atop his eternal bed
And a broken woman slowly walked away- a product of words left unsaid
