You Knew

A/N: A LWW movie-verse drabble. (My first drabble!) As a Christian, I do enjoy writing about Aslan's rising, as a parallel to Jesus' resurrection. As a bit of explanation, Peter's thoughts are in first person, in italics. The underlined bits in italic are where I draw connections to the crucifixion (and resurrection).

"Aslan's gone."

Why? Why did he abandon us?

Why has He left us, after giving us hope? Now my King is crucified; all is naught…

"Then you'll have to lead us. There's an army out there that's ready to follow you."

"I can't!"

It's improbable; it's impossible! Without Aslan?

"Aslan believed you could. And so do I."

Perhaps… he arranged this? Perhaps…perhaps… I can?

The Lion roars, the sound reverberating throughout the battlefield. Joy surges within him –

He is risen!

Peter looks into Aslan's smiling eyes; he sees himself in them, a proven leader.

Realization strikes.

You knew, all along.
