Notes: As per this request, something that was supposed to be actually a little shorter than it ended up being. It still works well enough, I think.

Summary: It's a hat.

Sometimes, a person just had to appreciate the normalcy and the little bits of randomness that came with a normal day. Especially when a person spent their nights traversing about a mutated version of their high school. Which was why Junpei didn't find it completely unnerving the odd little glances that Yukari was throwing him every so often, though it had been going on long enough that even Fuuka was starting to notice.

Finally, it seemed that Yukari just couldn't hold it in anymore and her tentative voice spoke up amongst the other noises of the lounge. "Junpei-kun?"

"Hm? What is it Yuka-tan?" Looking up from his PSP, Junpei paused the game to give Yukari his full attention.

"This is going to sound like a really odd question, but..." Now that tone of hers really did catch Junpei's attention. Whenever Yukari did something, or even suggest something that might have been, in her terms, 'odd,' it was a time to pay attention because the results generally always proved to be amusing.

"I can handle odd. Lay it on me."

Taking a deep breath, Yukari blurted out her question all within the same breath she had only taken moments before. "Where did you get your hat from?"

A blink, which was followed by another and then a hand to the back of his head, scratching the small bit of skin there in confusion. "Huh? My hat?"

"Well yeah. I've seen you wear it everywhere, but I can't remember when you got it in the first place. I can't even find out where it's from," Yukari admitted.

"Oh. That's because I made it myself." The casual and easy tone that Junpei used to answer Yukari's question almost made it seem like Yukari was rather silly for having been so embarrassed and hesitant to ask such a simple question in the first place. Junpei's answer, however casual it was though, did cause more of a reaction out of Fuuka and Yukari than he'd been expecting.

"Really, Junpei-kun?" At Fuuka's incredulous and slightly awed tone, Junpei felt a touch embarrassed about making such a talented claim at having the skill to sew, so he decided to elaborate a bit more.

"I might not have down the actual sewing myself, but I did find the design over the internet. After that, I just took it to a customization shop where I used to live and had them sew it on for me."

"That's..." And here, Yukari paused for a moment, as if searching for just the right kind of words to use. Her face lit up and it became obvious that she had figured out what it was that she wanted to say. "Actually really cool of you Junpei. I wouldn't have expected something so creative coming from you of all people."

"I agree," came Fuuka's cheerful statement immediately after. Both girl's admiration, though Yukari's was sort of backhanded in a fashion, brought a slight blush to Junpei's face. Although he still didn't know what to make of Yukari's statement.

"Uh... Thanks? But I'm not sure if that was a compliment or an insult."
