"Dr. Weir?" Major John Sheppard knocked lightly on the glass by the expedition leader's office.
"Oh, hello John." Elizabeth set down her tablet. "What can I do for you?"
"Remember the last planet we went to?" John eased himself into the chair across from her.
"Umm... M4X-093?" Elizabeth strove to remember but in her tired state it was difficult. "The planet with all the pine trees and no signs of people?"
"Yes." John's face broke into a grin. "Ford was kind enough to point out that they are small enough to fit through the 'Gate and its that time of year." He wagged his eyebrows at her.
Elizabeth took a moment to catch on. "Oh, of course Major have fun."
"Great." John hopped up from the chair and took off at a slow run for the 'Jumper Bay. A scant three minutes hadn't passed before a Puddle Jumper was shooting through the 'Gate. Elizabeth shook her head, he must've been so sure she'd say yes that everyone else was waiting for him in the 'Jumper.
STARGATE
"She said yes." John said as he jogged through the 'Jumper and plopped down into the pilots' seat.
"Good." Ford grinned.
"What is it we are doing exactly?" Teyla asked from behind Ford.
"We are going to get a Christmas tree." John replied as the 'Jumper lowered into the Gate room.
"What is Christmas?"
"Its a celebration on Earth, where people give gifts to each other and eat a lot." Rodney answered from behind John.
"Which one was it again?" John asked scanning the landscape beneath them.
"Right there, sir." Ford pointed to the biggest tree in site.
"Oh yeah." John grinned and landed the 'Jumper.
STARGATE
Elizabeth, can you come to the mess hall?
Elizabeth looked up from her work and tapped her her piece. "What is it Major?"
Come on.
Elizabeth sighed, she had plenty of work to be done but it would feel good to take a break.
Elizabeth took her time getting to the mess hall. When the doors opened she stood and stared in surprise. A Christmas tree stood at least twelve feet tall at one corner of the mess and plenty more Christmas decorations. Major Sheppard approached her with a santa hat on his head and a goofy grin plastered to his face. Right then he reminded her of her of a overly excited seven year-old.
"Merry Christmas!" John handed her a santa hat.
Elizabeth started to smile but brought her eyebrows down in confusion at the same time. "Where did you get this?"
"A seamstress off-world, she kinda thinks we're crazy now though." John replied. "Anyway, put your santa hat on." John waited until she did so before continuing. "The entire expedition has unanimously agreed that you should be the one to put the pegasus on the tree."
"Pegasus?"
"Yeah well, we thought it was fitting, instead of an angel or a star we decided that a pegasus would be better so one of our residents who happens to be pretty good carpenter carved out." John started walking up to the tree while the rest of the personnel respectfully made way.
There was a large ladder at the foot of the tree and the pegasus was on a table nearby.
"Don't drop it." John joked, handing the beautifully carved piece of wood to Elizabeth.
The pegasus sat on top of the tree easily and as she settled it the rest of the room burst into applause. Then the lights went out and the tree came on. Elizabeth could tell the string of lights was pretty impromptu but it still had the right effect.
The leader climbed down the ladder which was quickly removed. After admiring the tree for a little while the lights were brought back on dimly and they proceeded to have a Christmas celebration. While there were no gifts the expedition still called it their best Christmas yet..
