Missing a Family Member : Prologue
"Oh I'm so excited for you dear this being your first year at Hogwarts. After all, your cousin graduated just two years ago and with him and Lily with the baby on the way oh it's just so exciting." A woman whose hair was greyer then black said excitedly to a young girl of eleven.
"Auntie I'm not going to be attending Hog-" the young girl tired to get in but was interrupted by her aunt whose indignation could be heard clearly across the house.
"What do you mean your not going? You are a pure blood and a Potter and you shall be going to Hogwarts even if I have to drag you there my self!" Her aunt nearly yelled with righteous indignation.
A Soft chuckle could be heard from the doorway as a handsome man with a remarkable resemblance to the women with grey hair walked in the room bending down to give his young daughter a kiss on the forehead. Standing straight he turned to look at the older woman with a gentle smile on his face amusement coloring his eyes.
"Sister dear," the young girls father walked further into the room hazelnut eyes sparkling behind squares rims. He waved his daughter out of the room before continuing. "She is going to a magic school. My beautiful Cassie and I have decided it would be in all of our best interest if she went away to America for her schooling and as it is her intended is there as well." The man said with a chuckle as his wife, Cassandra, walked in and looped her arm with his.
"Jonathan, Jane," the woman said in greeting to the other two adults in the room. "Marie and I shall be leaving for America so I may drop her off as her intendeds' house while she waits for her academy to start in America." Cassie said addressing both her husband and sister-in-law as she gave her husband a kiss to the cheek and a nod in her sister-in-laws direction. "I shall see you this evening at 7:00 for supper. Will you be joining us Jane?"
"Yes I suppose so after all we are the only Potters left of this generation seeing as my husband has passed as well as there being no one of our blood line that is older. I shall see you at 7:00 tonight." Jane said and with a twirl of her robes was out the door and apperating to her own home.

"Mum do I have to stay here with them. I don't even get along with my intended," a look of disgust crossed the young girls face.
"Marie please at least try to get along. I know arranged marriages are not the easiest thing to deal with but soon you'll be off to separate schools and you never know you may grow to like him. So for my peace of mind please attempt to play nice with him." Cassie spoke to her daughter in soft calming tones in an attempt to placate her.
"Yes mum," the daughter said in an exasperated tone," but he's an incompetent fool if you ask me." She whispered under her breath but her mother obviously heard her when she gave her a disproving look.

Daily Prophet
Murder of the Potter Lord and Lady and Child
Last night at approximately 9:30 pm Lord Jonathan Potter and Ladies Jane, Cassandra, and young Marie Potter were murdered. The Dark Mark spotted hovering over their Manor early this morning by none other then Albus Dumbledore. Quoted right from were these words, "A shame that life is so easily dispatched of especially when a child is killed. The Potters were good people and I myself shall be informing the last of the living Potters." The family members which happen to be still living are Lord Potters' brother and his Sister-in-Law who have yet to be located. It is rumored that they are currently in hiding so no words on the tragic event can be given from them. We have…
"Chris…CHRIS!" A woman screamed in horror. "What dear what's wrong?" A man said breathlessly as he burst into the front sitting room.
"Oh god Chris read this, please just read it," the woman said as she tossed the paper at the man breaking down into heart wrenching sobs.
As the man read the article his face went from confused to angry to disgusted to worry. Chris then threw the paper on the table as he grabbed his wife to him and attempted to comfort her.
When she had quieted down he began to talk, "Lucy why would they think that Marie was dead as well when she is with us?"
"I'm not sure but it's possible that Jon and Cassie had time to do something to make people think that. It was their idea after all for Marie to come stay with us until she was done with all her schooling over here at the academy. Maybe they knew they were going to be attacked but these are all just theories," Lucy replied with a sigh as she wiped away the drying tear tracks on her cheeks.
The man sat back and gazed at his wife when he heard a shout from outside. He gave a small smile at the sound of his son, Fidelis, being berated by Marie.
Christopher Sinclair gave a heavy sigh and said with a rather resigned tone, "What are we going to tell Marie?"
"Tell me what?" A curious voice asked.
Chris and Lucy spun in their chairs to see Marie standing in the sitting room doorway looking curiously from from the man to the woman.
"Marie I'm not sure how to put this so I'm just going to come out and say it straight up. Last night the Dark Lord murdered your parents and aunt and…" Chris trailed off looking up from the floor from where he had been staring when heard a quiet sniffle from the doorway.
"And what else?" She said with a down heartened voice as tears slipped unbidden down her cheeks.
Lucy got up from her seat and cautiously made her way over to Marie. Bending down on to her knees she wrapped her arms around the weeping child and told her softly, "Marie darling, sweet child, it is to our belief that your parents also made it appear as if you had died as well."
With a small sniff Marie replied to that with four small words, "So I'm dead too."
"Yes in a way you are but don't worry we have a plan, a very good plan," Chris replied gently.
I hoped you enjoyed the prologue so read and review and I will possibly continue on because I have some interesting ideas for this story.
