Drabble – Color
Quiet solitude hung in the air, along with the aroma of food still lingering from the huge meal in the dining hall. Alexander and Hephaestion had 'waddled' their way to the nearby couches and now lay sprawled out over them, both looking a little green.
"Just poke me with a dagger and end this misery." Hephaestion moaned.
"I would if I could move myself. Why in Hades did I eat so much?" Alexander answered, belching loudly as he did.
Hephaestion looked towards Alexander and grinned, "Did that help?"
"Actually it did, you should try it."
Hephaestion quietly belched.
Alexander looked over at him. "That isn't going to help, do it like this." He then opened his mouth and burped twice as loud as the first one, followed but a big 'ahh'.
Hephaestion answered his with one of his own and the battle was on. The louder the bellowing got the more they laughed.
Two of the older women cooks happened to be walking by and heard all the commotion.
"Men!" she said, "We should just be grateful it is coming out that end instead of the other."
"Spoke to soon." She said when a new sound drifted through the hallways.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, may you have as much fun as Alexander and Hephaestion did!
