Ch 1

"Riiiiiiiiiiiiing!" screeched Ming-ri's alarm clock. "Yeah yeah I hear ya." said a tired Ming-ri as she turned her alarm clock to snooze and rolled over for another 10 minutes.

"Oh crap!" said Ming-ri as she turned to face her blaring alarm clock. "I'm gonna be late for exams!" As she quickly got dressed and washed her face Ming-ri realized that she hadn't studied at all the night before. "Well I'll pass them anyway it's not like I'm some kind of idiot." As she ran down the stairs she quickly reviewed the topics in her head. First History, then Spanish, then English, then Math, then Language arts, and finally her favorite subject music. "Grandma will kill me if I'm not in home room in 10 minutes!" she told herself as she sprinted towards the backs of her friends. "Hey guys wait up!" she said as they turned around. "Hey Miko do you have a hair brush and some hair ties I could use?" "Of course Ming-ri chan I always have hair ties." "Thanks you're a life saver!" said Ming-ri as she quickly brushed her hair and made a bun with the four hair ties Miko had given her.

When they got to the school building Ming-ri waved to Ciso and Miko as they went off to take their tests in a different room. As she entered her homeroom her Grandmother looked up disapprovingly. "You are late Ming-ri. Just because you are the top of your class doesn't mean you can sleep in and then expect to be treated like other students who are on time you are different but that does NOT make you special! Now sit down!" her grandmothers Japanese was spoken with a heavy Chinese accent that made most new students giggle until they were busted and given 10 demerits and a swift stream of curses on their family for raising such disobedient children. "Sorry Grandmamma I was studying when I looked at the clock and realized I had only twenty minutes to get here." Her grandmother looked at her skeptically but finally waved at her to take a seat before the announcements started and tests were passed out.

"Well those were easy." Said Ming-ri as she walked towards Miko's home to get ready to go to the mall. "Speak for your self Ming-ri I almost fainted I was so nervous well at least your grandmother doesn't teach you're class, she almost had my head about being late! I thought she might not let me take the exams after I was two minutes late." "Calm down Ming it wasn't the last exams of the year! Those decide where you go to high school these were only to tell the government how well the school is teaching the curriculum." "Yeah, yeah I know I just can't help but stress over any type of exam." "Guys, guys wait up!" said a tired Ciso "Did you see these forms?" "No what are they for?" "For the annual fourth year talent show!" "You should try out Ming-ri!" "I'll think about it."
