Coming here unannounced, drag my nails on the tile. I follow your scent, you can't just follow my smile. Your flaws are aligned with mood of mine. They're cutting me to the bone, nothing left to leave behind. You ought to keep me concealed just like I was a weapon. I didn't come for a fight, but I will fight until the end. This might be your battle, might not turn out okay. You know you look so Seattle, but you feel so LA. I love the way you hurt, it's irresistible.
Prologue
Cerussia, a planet located on the edge of the Milky Way solar system, was like any other planet. Its inhabitants, the Cerisians, were human in appearance, and a similar biology. Not only did they have two hearts, but all the intestines and organ in the body were reverse, or on opposite sides, when compared the the human body. When compared side by side, it was almost like looking in a mirror.
Part of the reason Cerisians had two hearts was to help survive and heal when they were injured, from a simple paper cut to life threatening. When such an injury happened they would regenerate, the body would repair itself, most of the energy diverting towards the wound. The heartbeats would slow down and switch after every beat. Normally the two hearts beat in perfect sync, when hurt the heart would trade off, an A, B, A, B, pattern. That way there was still a steady beat, no extra cause for concern.
The actual regeneration process could take from several minutes to several days, depending on the wound and the mental state of Cerisian. If they were conscious, they could choose whether to heal the injury or not, such as bruises or minor cuts. The regeneration energy could even be used to heal someone else, if the Cerisian knew what they were doing. It was also possible for the physical appearance to change.
The one thing regeneration couldn't heal is broken hearts.
When Cerisians found their life partner, they would Link, or bond, with them. They always knew when the Link was in trouble, or hurt, and could use it to find said person if they were lost. The Link could work both ways, the stronger the connection, the more beneficial.
One for sure way to kill a Cerisian, is to kill their Link. If they happened to survive the initial physical pain, the grief of losing the Link can and will consume. They almost always die of honest heartbreak. Very few survived the process, if any did, they never took another love interest. They couldn't, a Cerisian is only ever supposed to have a Link for life.
As such, Cerisians were naturally emotionally distant. If they 'fell' too hard and too fast, it could ruin them.
