To Shut Or To Open?

He shut the door behind him.
Rose was left in darkness. No time to catch her breath or her wits. She was befuddled, unsure of everything except him.
Through her mind's darkness she saw him. Tall. Two piecing blue eyes. And he smelled of old leather. But the most memorable feature was his smile.
But who was he?
On cue the door opened. "I'm the Doctor by the way," he stated. "What's your name?"
She replied, "Rose."
He smiled, "Nice to meet you, Rose." He waved a metal box and declared, "Run for your life!" And shut the door again.
