GRANGER-SNAPE SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT

"It's Over!" screamed one tabloid, "Trial Separation," blared another. To Hermione Granger-Snape, these were fighting words. It was the first time she had faced such accusations in her marriage, and she certainly knows it won't be the last, but that doesn't make it any easier for Severus Snape's devoted wife.
"Hermione wishes she didn't care about all the gossip and rumors, but it is hard for her not to," a coworker of Granger-Snape, one of the legendary Golden Trio, tells WitchWeekly exclusively. "It's hurtful when it comes to people lying about her family. As much as she'd like to, she can't just ignore it. She told me she has never been happier and she doesn't understand why people don't want to believe that."
Indeed, ever since Hermione, 27, and Severus, 48, stepped out together as a couple in January 1999, they have been under attack. Initially, everyone questioned whether their romance was the real deal. And in the months following the August 13, 2001, birth of their daughter, Aura, cruel rumors circulated that the baby was being kept out of the limelight because of a possible birth defect caused by her parents' injuries during the Final Battle just a few years before. There was even gossip that Severus wasn't the birth father of Aura, heads immediantly turning to Hermione's ex Ronald Weasley, who quickly dismissed all accusations that he fathered the child. "I do know what it being said in the press," Hermione revealed to The Daily Prophet at the time. "This is my family, and I do care about them. The stories and lies are not okay. It eats away at me. Some of the crap that's out there- it's really frustrating the amount of crap that's circulating!"
Despite the hardships and accusations that will most likely continue to go on for quite some time, Mrs. Snape remains surprisingly optomistic. "Everyone should know that 99.99% of the time you open a gossip magazine, nearly all of the printed words are false. But I know the truth in my heart, as do my friends and family, and that's enough for us to get by."
