The Lost Sibling

Disclaimer - I don't own anything from this, apart from the main Girl Amethyst. She's modeled after me from a dream I once had based on this plot line.

Authors Note - I don't know if this is going to be a short story, a one shot/ two shot or a long story. In my dreams it quite long and detailed and so I hope I can write that out for you.

Chapter one - Don't judge a book by its cover, you might end up with a paper cut.

Walking into a new place, with totally new people and new attitudes is scary, to most people. They would rather walk with their head held down, hoping not to be noticed too much until the hype of a new girl dies down so much that they don't realize that she's the new girl anymore. But that's not how Amethyst is, never has been and never will be. She walks in, her mid back length straight red hair flowing around her, head held high with dark makeup on her eyes and red on her lips, wearing what has to be the most Gothic Outfit Rosewood had ever seen. Accompanied by the best heels Rosewood had ever seen too. A black off the shoulder top, with red writing saying " I only kiss boys with piercings" in red on the front. The shirt, had no back in it, only ripped shreds of thin material that let everything show. Underneath it was a lacy black vest so that it left everything to the imagination. Below that was black denim short, so short they almost couldn't be seen. Rips and chains hung off them as well as small rhinestones on the pockets. Laces skull tights covered her legs, and joining them were peek toe black heels, the heel made of metal to look like a switch blade and on the toe were rhinestones skulls stuck on. They weren't the most expensive clothes, or even the clothes you might find in Rosewood. But she didn't feel out of place or even bothered by all the stares and whispered she was getting as she walked through the hallways of Rosewood high. But on the inside, she was a nervous wreck but knew if she showed it, they'd surround her like vultures.

It was too early for lesson, but the rumors of there being someone new coming to school had spread like wildfire in the upcoming days so everyone seems to turn up early in hopes of catching a glimpse of her.

Walking into the cafeteria, she found a table near the back and sat down. Putting her bag on the bench beside her she pulled out her tablet and headphone and put them in. Taking a deep breath, she covertly looked around. Everyone was staring and whispering - she knew it.

A bag hitting her table made her look up. A blond preppy girl stood there, blue eyes as wide as her grin as she gazed down at her. Slowly pulling her headphones out, Amethyst looked questionably up at her.

Seeing she had her attention, the girl in front of her held her arm out, hand waiting to be shook. Amethyst shyly did so, their hands barely parting before the preppy girl started to talk.

"Hi! My names Sophie! Your new here aren't you? That's a stupid question, of course you are! If you weren't, I'd have seen you before, and I haven't so you must be new! What's your name again? I didn't catch it before?" The words ran out endlessly, Sophie barely even stopping to breath as she spoke before she leaned forward expectantly at the end.

Cringing on the inside, Amethyst answered. "That's because I never told you my name. But its Amethyst." Sophie gasped in awe, clapping her hands together excitedly before sitting down next to her and leaning forward in enthusiasm.

"Amethyst! It's so... Different! But cool! Like you, I guess! No one round here's really got a name like that, boring old Rosewood eh?" She smiled, earning half a one in return before continuing on. Waving over a group stood nearby, they all rushed to greet her, throwing questions at her without giving her chance to answer. Amethyst looked lost to all of this, hearing questions about her and then gossip about what seemed to be everyone in the school, she couldn't take it all. Trying to find something to interrupt them with, she notices two people walk into the cafeteria like they owned it.

Both blond, and obviously related, they strode around without a care. They parted way, the boy going towards a table full of guys in sports jackets and the girl to a table with 4 other girls on it. One, looking like the mirror image of the blonde, until you looked closer, and short brunette with a pink streak in her hair, a tall tanned skinned girl with brown eye followed by a sophisticated if not awkward brunette, holding her books and giving what looked to be a lecture.

Seeing that Amethyst attention was elsewhere, Sophie turned to see who she was looking at, smiling when the prospect of juicier gossip approached.

"There the Dilaurentes', Jason and his younger sister Alison. He's the stoner turned school Counselor and she's the perfect girl turned queen bee and to some, the school bitch. With her are her little posse, Hanna, Aria, Emily and Spencer from left to right in that order. If you get on the wrong side of Alison or any of them, they can make your life hell. There's a rumor that Jason and Alison are only half sibling, their mother having an affair after getting married which led to Jason being born!"

She turned to the red head, as in expecting wide eyes and a look that said 'tell me more' but all she got was disgust before starting to pack her bag.

"What... Where are you going?" As Amethyst stood up, Sophie spoke.

"Getting as far away from shallow gossiping bitches like you. I know what it's like to have rumors spread about you whether there true or not, it still hurts. And to be telling them to a complete stranger is even worse. What goes on in their family, is between their family. If they wanted everyone to know, they'd have told you but since I guessing they don't exactly want to advertise it if it is real then why don't you do them and me a favor and just shut up. You wouldn't like it if these rumors were being spread about you or your family, so why should they have to put up with people like you spreading it on a daily basis. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to find my first class and introduce myself to the teacher." From the first sentence, the entire room went silent, even the guys. Everyone was watching her as she tore Sophie a new one then shouldered her bag, help her head high and walked out of the room in the corridor. Almost immediately everyone started whispering, pointing out the blonde in the wrong and she grew red in embarrassment and ducked her head.

No one really took notice of Jason saying goodbye to his buddies and walking off after the girl, nor Alison and her friends following him a minute later.

Jason found her looking at a map in her hands, leaning against a wall before looking to the door opposite and nodding. Hearing his footsteps, Amethyst looked up and a slight blush came upon her cheeks as to how good looking he was. Looking back down she jumped when he stopped near her and cleared his throat.

"Thank you, for what you said back there. You didn't have to; we get it a lot." His voice was deep and with a slight southern accent it drawled. He sounded sincere but slightly awkward saying it, an impassive look on his face as he ran fingers through his hair.

Folding her map up she put it in her pocket. "No problem. I know what it's like to have rumors about you and your family spread around. I'd rather be one of those people that don't judge a book by its cover, they actually read the book and get to know them before they judge, because otherwise you might end up with a paper cut. Or worse, burned."

The bell rang and she stepped away from the wall, nodding to him as she walked into the first class of the day, never noticing something fall to the floor as she walked. Jason did and noticed it was a ring, silver with Swarovski crystal in. Picking it up and turning, he noticed she was no longer in sight and with no clue to where she went, he pocketed it to give to her later.

Authors note - sooooo... How was it? Questions? Reviews? Good! Bad? Mistakes? Tell me :'))))
