The Marble Sun
There came a night when death was nigh,
The sun had fled far from the sky.
The soldiers marched along the street,
Hating the Sun they could not defeat.
With marble heart and golden rays,
He fought for Patria for all his days.
He shone so long in barricade great,
As the foolish guards met their fate.
The proud Sun said, 'Why do you try?"
'No foe has breached my fortress high.'
But the fort was breached, the barricade fell,
There was the tolling of Death's bell.
Men cried out, and warriors wailed,
"The power of the Sun has failed!"
But the proud Sun said, "You are not dead!
Come; let us fill these foes with dread.
We have no chance, no chance at all.
But we will fight before we fall.
Let us give the world a sight to see!
Let others rise, to take our place,
Untill the earth is free!"
