I do not own X-Men in any way.
There was no way they were going to win this fight.
Everyone else was down and out, except Neha.
She was trying to hold off their attackers. Her mutation was one that every mutant wanted.
The ability to neutralize of other mutant powers using a shield.
This fight was her fault.
She could feel her shield weakening with every hit.
Alex, the only one still conscious, could see that Neha was getting weaker. He noticed one mutant making his way over to a metal statue and placed his hand on it.
The metal started to glow and expand.
He tried yelling her name, but she couldn't hear him. He struggled to get his feet. He ran over to her and tackled her to the ground.
The statue exploded and metal shards rained down onto her and Alex.
She managed to throw up a weak shield, but a metal shard broke the shield and embedded itself in Alex's shoulder.
When it was safe, Alex collapsed onto of Neha in exhaustion, breathing hard.
Hank and another mutant walked over to them and lifted Alex off of her.
They helped him to the X-jet and they made their way back to the mansion.
They took Alex down to the medical bay and Hank worked on patching him up.
Neha sat his side the entire time, but Alex wouldn't allow Neha to touch him.
Hank bandaged his shoulder.
"Do you want me to walk you back to your room?" she asked him.
"I think it would be best if you left", he said.
"But Alex…" Neha said.
"Just go!" he snapped.
Neha got up and left Alex in the medical bay.
A few days later, Neha knocked on Alex's door.
"Go away Neha!" he yelled.
"I just wanted to tell you that I'm grateful to you for saving my life", she said.
The door opened.
"I didn't save you so you would be grateful. I saved you, because I love you!" he snapped.
"Alex…" she said stepping towards him. She jumped back when the door was slammed in her face.
Alex stood on the other side of the door and listened as she walked away.
That night, Neha knocked on Alex's door again.
The door flew open.
"I thought I told you to leave me alone", he snapped.
She surprised Alex by capturing his lips with hers. "I love you too Alex Summers. No matter how hotheaded you are", she told him, "Thank you again for saving my life".
