Chapter 1 - Into the Breach
Jade green eyes start to slowly open, as the large and imposing figure of the Incredible Hulk shook his head to relieve himself of the grogginess, and blurry vision. He grunted, and felt his arms, and legs being restrained by something. High tech metallic restraints connected to both the ceiling, and the floor were keeping him suspended in a X shape. The Hulk's mind started to rage, and he began using his incredible strength to get free. Before Hulk could continue, a view screen lowered towards his face immediately getting his attention.
Hulk recognized the figures on the screen...puny humans who wouldn't leave him alone. Hulk roared at the screen, and continued his efforts to free himself.
Three of the four individuals looked uncomfortable with being there, while the fourth began speaking directly to their captive audience. "I am truly sorry for what we've had to do, but we had no choice." The man in red, and gold armor spoke with an even voice. Hulk's anger skyrocketed hearing the voice of one of his enemies, and ripped his large hands out of the metal bindings. He smashed his feet free, and tore open a large wall of high tech machinery.
"When you get angry, Bruce, when you're overcome by rage, you are a force of destruction." Iron Man continued on with his recorded message, while the Hulk continued his rampage within the walls of the revealed spaceship. "You fear nothing, and even the mightiest heroes of Earth cannot deter you..." Hulk snarled at the screen, and threw a large chunk of the spaceship's guidance system at the view screen, causing a large explosion to occur within. The cabin of the star-ship soon filled with flame retardant liquid, to stop the fire from spreading. Hulk was thrown against the side of the room when the ship lurched sharply to the left. Hulk landed with his face on the floor with the liquid soon covering his form. Hulk could just make out a robotic voice, before he felt himself lose consciousness.
[Warning: Guidance system offline. Trajectory altered.]
The Star-ship veered off course from the uninhabited planet that was to be the Hulk's prison, and shot straight through a large wormhole in space. The wormhole then imploded within itself, leaving no trace of it's existence.
In Another Dimension
It is night on this planet, and large carnivorous creatures are hungrily looking for their next meal, and the largest of their number catches sight of a speeding streak of light falling from the sky. The other smaller creatures start to scurry into caves in order to avoid the stalking predator. A large impact was heard from the object making landfall. The large carnivore started drooling, and wiped it's large mouth filled with sharp teeth with a small clawed arm. It quickly started running towards the light in hopes of getting an easy meal.
At The Crash Site
The spaceship was still relatively in one piece, a testament to it's designers at Stark Industries. There was smoke billowing out of a large hatch door on the right side of the ship. Suddenly, the door gave way, and was sent careening into a large rock face 30 feet away. A grim shadow now emerged from the open doorway, and liquid that quelled the internal fire followed his escape. Hulk stumbled out, and fell to his knees to catch his breath, and coughed loudly to expel some liquid that he ingested. He turned over, so he was now on his back, and looked up at the sky. Hulk was staring into the brightest full moon he had ever seen. However, this serene moment was soon interrupted by heavy breathing, and loud stomping that shook the ground beneath him.
Hulk stood up quickly, and prepared to fight whatever was coming towards him. He roared a warning, as his fists tightened, and gamma irradiated muscles flexed in anticipation. Hulk's drooling opponent revealed itself, and slowly started advancing on the Green Goliath. Hulk took one look at the creature, and used his tremendously powerful leg muscles to jump to his target with his fist cocked back, and ready to strike. "GRRRrrRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Hulk yelled, scaring the creature, before it felt the Hulk's powerful right hook to it's jaw, causing it to dislocate immediately.
The creature fell on it's left side, with the Hulk landing directly on it's chest. The creature stared into the Hulk's jade green eyes, and for the first time in it's life, it knows fear. The large creature starts to make whimpering noises, and turns it's head with eyes shut...waiting for the finishing blow. When it felt nothing, it braved a peek at it's green assailant. Hulk huffed, and jumped down from it's chest, and stared hard at his enemy. "Hulk proved point. Hulk is strongest one there is. Hulk no monster, despite what puny humans say. You leave Hulk alone, or next time you become Hulk's meal." Hulk rubbed his belly to get the point across. The creature fearfully clamored to it's clawed feet, and ran off whimpering back to it's cave.
Hulk let his adversary leave without pursuit, and began walking across the vast desert landscape. Hulk looked over his shoulder at the remains of the spaceship, and frowned. "Ship brought Hulk here, but where is here? Hulk not want puny humans to find Hulk again!" Hulk walked over to a large boulder that weighed several dozen tons, and lifted it over his head with one hand. "This small rock will destroy ship!" Hulk threw the boulder with rage, and sent it like a guided missile straight at the ship, which exploded loudly with a fiery mushroom cloud that is easily seen by the other desert creatures.
Hulk smiled, and nodded at his handiwork. Then turned, and took a mighty leap 30 feet in the air, to land with authority several miles from his previous location. "Hulk will find shelter, and rest. Will search for food in morning." Hulk suddenly stopped jumping, and listened to the sound of a primal roar coming from the north. His jade eyes narrowed, and he growled with his large teeth showing.
"Hulk will deal with noisy beast in morning." Hulk continued his search for shelter, determined to meet this beast to show it who is strongest.
High Above the Earth - Kami's Lookout
The appointed guardian of the Earth, Kami was fast asleep when he felt something amiss on the Earth. He quickly threw off his bed covers, and took his walking staff to make his way to the outer rim of his Lookout. He soon discovered that he wasn't alone, when his friend and caretaker Mr. Popo waved at him from his location at the edge of the Lookout. "My friend, have you also sensed it? The tremendous life force that descended to the Earth from the stars?" Mr. Popo nodded at Kami, and joined him to look into this new discovery. "Yes, Kami. Do you believe he could be a threat to the planet?" Mr. Popo saw that Kami was concentrating with his eyes closed, and a white aura now surrounds his body. Kami opened his eyes with an unsure look. "I sense a hidden rage that has no end, but also an innocent heart as well. I will continue to monitor his activities on the Earth, and if he indeed poses a threat to Earth's people, I will not hesitate to stop him." Kami gripped his staff tighter, and Mr. Popo nodded. "Yes, but for now you need to rest." Kami turned his head, and smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Popo. I will heed your advice." Kami said, as Mr. Popo leads him back to his room to get some sleep.
With the Hulk
The jade skinned giant traveled to a mountainous area with lots of game to hunt, and fresh water close by. Hulk was currently sleeping under a huge tree with animals of all shapes and sizes going about their business around the forest. Hulk opened one eye to make sure they left him in peace, but he didn't have to worry, because the animals could sense an alpha was in their forest and gave him a wide birth. Hulk noticed a small monkey had wandered away from his parents to do some exploring. The little monkey was happily playing about, and it brought a small smile to Hulk's face.
Hulk spotted movement out of the corner of his eye, and saw a large cat with big incisors stalking towards the unsuspecting monkey. Hulk leveled an angry stare at the cat, and growled loudly getting it's attention. The large Sabre-tooth Tiger started sweating, and backed away slowly from it's choice of prey. Hulk chuckled to himself, and put his large arms behind his head. "That's what Hulk thought." Hulk watched the small monkey quickly scampering back to his mother's arms, and the monkey's mother smiled, and nodded at the Hulk before climbing up a nearby tree.
"Hulk likes it here. Likes quiet." Hulk thought with a smile, before slowly shutting his eyes again to rest. Hulk's ears twitched, and he hears the sound of small footsteps approaching. Hulk opens his eyes, and sees a small boy with gravity defying black hair in a pineapple shape wearing a blue outfit with a red stick in a holder resting on his back. Hulk has a look of confusion, when he catches sight of a monkey tail waving around excitedly behind the boy's backside.
"Hi there, Mister. You're the first person that I've met other than my grandpa, Gohan. He had to go away, though." The boy had a look of sadness for a second, before it turned into a friendly smile. "Wow! You look very strong! My name is Goku, what's yours?" Hulk stared at the boy, and wondered why he wasn't scared of him. Hulk stood up to his full height, towering over the small boy, and casting a large shadow over him. The boy, Goku looked up at Hulk with the same smile, and smiled wider when he saw how tall he was. Hulk's confusion grew, and he scratched the back of his head with his large left hand. "Why is boy not scared of Hulk? All puny humans scared of Hulk, cause Hulk is strongest one there is!" Hulk stated, and pointed a thumb at his chest to emphasize his point.
Goku looked confused, and mimicked Hulk's action with scratching the back of his head. "Gosh. I didn't know I was supposed to be scared of you, Mister Hulk. I don't feel scared, though." Goku started searching himself all the way down to his tail. "Nope...I'm not shaking or anything." Goku smiled up at the green giant. "Do you want to be friends, Mr. Hulk?" Hulk frowned down at Goku, and sat down with his hands on his knees. "Hulk has no friends." Hulk remembered his past on Earth, and that the humans only used him, and never wanted to befriend him.
"My Grandpa told me to make lots of friends, but I don't have any either..." Goku looked deep in thought. "We can be each others first friends!" Hulk's eyes widen, and he quickly got back up on his feet. "You would be Hulk's friend?" Hulk had an unsure look on his face, but Goku's wide smile back gave him hope. "I sure will! Come on! I'll show you my home, and you can meet Grandpa!" Goku said as he climbed up a tree, and started jumping from tree to tree towards his home. Hulk followed him at an even pace, and smiled at the thought of having a friend.
