A/N: Really don't know where this came from. Just started writing. It's sort of depressing, and really short! Review if you feel like it.

Rating: PG

Characters: The Doctor, Rose

It was hard at first. But that wasn't a surprise. The surprise was that it didn't take forever and a day to get over her like he promised. He guessed he had practice doing this, leaving people behind, letting go. Maybe too much practice. One day on Earth he found another person, someone who wasn't afraid, someone who wanted more than chips. So he went on adventures again, saving races, saving worlds. And he found himself forgetting her without realizing, forgetting to be sad and lonely.

Now his latest companion is gone and he is alone with the TARDIS. He is over the grief, but that isn't a surprise. He now thinks of her, but that isn't a surprise. He thinks of her constantly but he is not sad and he is not angry. But he is not happy. He feels nothing. Nothing but regret of a broken promise.
