May Collins walked confidently down the hallway of Ashley Waters High School, ignoring the cat calls and whispers directed at her. The crowd which usually should just suffocate everyone, seemed to part just enough to let her through. She was new, and it wasn't easy transferring in the middle of the school year from Kentucky to South Carolina, but she'd make do.

She walked on her black heels that worked to make her long legs look even longer in her dark blue skinny jeans and a flowing green top which was loose but just low enough in the front. Large orange earrings dangled from her ears and she held a purple designer bag. With her pale skin, pink lips, blue eyes made to look large and doe like by skilfully applied make up, and long curly blonde hair, she practically had boys falling at her feet since she stepped into the building.

But there was one boy she had her eyes on.

Dakota Lee, or Kota as his friends called him. They had a few classes together, English being one, particle physics and the advanced math class some others. She sat next to him in physics and in front of him in math, in English though he and his friends surrounded some girl so she sat in the front in his line of sight.

That girl. She'd recently figured out her name was Sang Sorenson, and she was quite the topic of conversation amongst the student body. Apparently she never talked and only hung out with Kota and his other friends from the private school.

May walked into her homeroom and sank gracefully into her seat next to a girl named Karen she'd met on the first day about a week ago.

"Mornin doll." She said in her unmistakable Kentucky accent, Karen looked up from some last minute homework and brushed her short brown hair out of her face.

"Oh good morning May." She said, turning more to face the other girl. "What's up" May smiled sweetly.

"Well you'll probably think me silly for askin' but there seems to be this one girl that keeps on poppin' up everywhere in conversation, and I'm just plum confused as to what they're sayin'." She said, discreetly asking for information.

"Oh, really? Who?" Karen asked, looking interested.

"Some Sang Sorenson girl, I honestly don't know what tree her parents were scratchin up with that name, but comin from the mountains I guess I better get used to it." She laughed sweetly, a spark of recognition was visible in Karen's eyes.

"Oh Sang! Yeah, she's pretty popular, she just started here this year and she is really quiet and doesn't really talk to anyone much except for those guys." Just then the teacher walked in and began roll call.

"Thanks, hon, I won't be as lost know." May whispered, winking. When the bell rang, she stood up and followed the crowd out into the hallway toward her first class, math.

The setup at this school wasn't the greatest, and the traffic was probably the worst, it's a wonder how anyone got to class. She was trying to make it through a block when an elbow false and knocked her backwards. Toppling on her feet, she began to fall until someone caught her. Turning to look at her saviour she came face to chest with a tall tan guy with dark hair.

"Thanks doll." She said out of habit. He looked confused, waving she turned and walked away. Making her way to the classroom she peeked in and saw Kota already sitting there looking bored, she strolled into the room, swinging her hips as she walked and sat down in front of him, ending her routine with a hair flip.

When nothing was said she decided to take things into her own hands. Turning halfway in her seat, she glanced back at him before turning fully and smiling.

"Hi! I don't think we've ever been properly introduced, my name's May." She said, offering a hand. He looked dumbstruck for a moment, but recovered quickly.

"I'm Kota." He said, shaking my hand firmly.

"Pleasure ta meet ya darlin'." I said, laying on the accent a little thick, but how would he notice? He looked slightly confused, his green eyes inspecting me.

"You're new I'm guessing?" He said, "and not from around here?" I made sure to blush.

"Caught red handed, I guess y'all ain't the handshakin type folk, it's habit really. Meet someone new, shake their hand." I giggled and he smiled a little but still looked guarded. I flashed him a smile but the gaurded look didn't go away.

"So where did you move here from?" He asked, I squealed inside that I'd gotten him to talk.

"Kentucky." I told him. I would've said more, but the teacher came in and started teaching.

All throughout the lesson she made sure not to slouch, raise her hand for every question she knew, which was pretty much all of them, the curriculum wasn't that hard, and not constantly play with her hair.

When the bell rang she rose from her seat and turned towards him.

"It was nice to meet you Kota." She said, giving him a sweet smile then walking out. She had this in the bag.

She had made it through the day with winking and smiling at Kota whenever their eyes met and when she walked by him at lunch, he'd smile, sometimes awkwardly wave as if he wasn't sure what to do. Then came gym class.

Early on when she moved here, she found out she liked gym, she was what one might call an athletic girl, and in this class most of the girls were scared of balls (no pun intended) so she excelled. Walking in with her usual award winning smile gracing her lips, she walked fearlessly into the locker room and began changing right by her locker.

As she stood there in her bra and underwear, she saw a small figure dart by, she looked and saw the infamous Sang everyone was talking about before she closed herself in the stall. She must be scared to change our in the open with the big girls.

Smirking, she pulled her shirt and shorts on before sitting down to put on her shoes, she grabbed a pair of green tie dye converse shoes from her locker and put them on and pulled up her hair into a high ponytail before getting up to walk out. She stopped for a minute when she saw everyone waiting together at the door. She spotted Karen and went to ask.

"What are y'all waitin for?" Karen turned to see her then gestured out the door.

"The boys always make cat calls and stuff at us so we walk out together, we're just waiting for everyone to get done." Just then Sang got done and walked to join them. She was a good 4 inches shorter than May if not more, and stood without the confident air.

"Well I'm goin on out." She said, pushing through the crowd and stepping into the gym, much to the delight of the guys, as the whistles and cat calls started up immediately.

May just smiled and winked and blew kisses at them, making them wild. All the other girls soon followed. They did their stretches then coach told them it was a free day and half the court was open for basket ball. May instantly stood up and walked over to the court, watching the boys play for a moment, Karen, Sang, and a few other girls came to join her.

"How are we ever going to get the ball away?" A girl whined, the boys hadn't even noticed they were there. Smirking, May cracked her knuckles.

"Like this." She waited until the ball was passed to a guy with brown hair with two blonde strips and a lot of earrings before she dove in and snatched the ball away from him, twirling on her toes, she dribbled out of his reach and made a clean shot into the basket.

"Woah!" The guy said through a grin.

"Thanks." I said, dribbling the ball once again, ignoring some of the guys with their eyes glued to my chest.

"The name's Gabriel." he said.

"May." I told him, smiling. Another guy with blue eyes and ruddy red hair walked up with Sang. Were they some of the guys from the private school like Kota. Red hair guy introduced himself as Nathan and soon we were back to playing.

They put up a good fight, but so did I, stealing and issuing my speed against them. Sang tried to keep up, but she just wasn't a match for any of us. When class was over I shot a victorious grin at her before heading into the locker room.

Walking out of the building and into the parking lot, I checked my messages.

'Hey princess I'll be home today so hurry home.'

I smiled and slipped some large shades over my eyes as I climbed into my custom purple convertible. As I pulled out I spotted Kota walking with Sang and it looked like Nathan to his car. When he looked over I blew him a kiss. He blushed and looked away and I cranked up the music as I drove away.
