Part One: The Calling
16 year old Gregor found himself staring out into the New York streets again, his eyes wandering. How familiar this scenario was to him. Just four years ago on another hot day he been just as frustrated. But this was a whole different case. Gregor wanted to go somewhere so badly it gave him headaches just thinking about it.
The Underland. Regalia. A place people only drempt about. Four years ago Gregor and his sister Boots had fallen into the Underland through a gate in his laundry room. There they had encountered giant creatures like bats, cockroaches, and worst of all, rats. Gregor found that there was a prophecy that called for him as a warrior. After completing five prophecies he quit being the warrior and returned to the Overland. Not a day went by he didn't miss them. Especially Luxa. She is the same age as him, 16, and officially Queen now. And all the rest of his friends down there. But, there was absolutely no way his mom would let him back down there again.
A light tap on his shoulder brought Gregor back to the present. His seven year old sister Boots was standing next to him.
"Gregor can we go to the park?" She asked sweetly.
"No Boots and don't ask because you know why," he replied. Central Park, where she wanted to go, was the other enterance to the Underland. Of course, their mom had forbidden them to go there also. After Gregor had almost died from fighting the Bane, she never wanted to them to go down there again.
So instead, he was stuck here, dwelling in the past.
...
"Gregor go get the laundry! It should be done now!" his mom yelled to him. He trudged down the stairs of his apartement building until he reached the laundry room.
'Great,' Gregor thought. 'Maybe I'll get sucked into the air vent again.' He even laughed it was so ridiculous.
His mom was right. The laundry was done and ready to be taken upstairs. Arms full, he turned to head back. As his body moved, a sock fell off the load he was carrying and landed between the dryers. Bending down to get it, a piece of paper caught his eye. Inside grate he had forgotten was there, was a scroll.
