My eyes opened the smell of bacon and eggs filled the room with an amazing aroma. I smiled; my mom must have come home late last night and made breakfast to make up for her absence. I tip-toed out of bed and walked down the stairs of the farm house trying unsuccessfully to get down the stairs silently. I hit the bottom of the stairs and continued tip-toeing down the hall and surprise her. I walked into the kitchen surprised to find patch cooking.

"Patch, what are you doing here?" I was now more confused than shocked.

"Making breakfast. What does it look like?" he turned his vision from the sizzling bacon to me and flashed me his cocky grin. Why is it I loved that grin so much, it always sent the butterflies in my stomach to over drive.

"How'd you get in?" I was glad he was here but the whole thing with him just showing up at my house and walking in kind of threw me off.

"The door was unlocked so I just walked in." Okay, that was a lie. I locked the door last night before I went to bed. Unless he broke the lock, I shook the thought from my mind. I stood there staring at patch as he looked down at the pan diligently. I breathed in his scent and it sent shivers down my spine. The smell of mint and cigars, I smiled.

"Done." He ran to the cupboards and pulled them open pulling out two plates. He placed the bacon neatly on the plate and the eggs close beside it. He buttered some toast and cut it in half and placed it on the plate. He placed both plates on the island and sat down in front of one of them. "Come eat." He smiled. I walked over to the stool and sat down. Face-to-face me and him sat, it made my stomach tingle. He made a finger gesture telling me to lean in like he was going to tell me a secret. I leaned in and sat motionlessly near his face.

"Yes?" I asked. Patch licked the side of my face, making me pull my face back. I laughed. Leaned forward again and kissed his lips hard, biting his lower lip on the way out. I looked at him with probably one of the cockiest grins i've ever used. He licked his upper lip, begging for more. I shook my head and leaned back in my seat. I picked up a piece of bacon and took a big bite. My eyes widened, that was the best bacon I've ever eaten.
