Note: Warnings for implied abuse and suicide
Helena wiped the tears that formed in her eyes. She was once again alone in the home that she shared with that monster. She just wanted to be free from him.
"You will never see your precious mother again," he spat. "You belong to me. Do you understand?"
Helena nodded dutifully. The last time she denied Baron, she was struck with the hand that bore his rings.
Baron knelt down in front of her, touching her chin. It took all of her power not to flinch and turn away from him.
"You have to understand, Helena, I'm doing this because I love you." He kept his cool, dark eyes on her, waiting for the reaction he wanted.
So Helena forced a small smile on her face. "I do understand, Baron, and I love you as well."
It satisfied the man, and he left without another word.
He isolated her. Threatened her. Hurt her in more ways that can be imagined. And she was powerless to defend herself against him.
He had complete control over her, and Helena didn't know what to do about it.
"I wouldn't have hurt you if you had just listened to me, Helena," Baron said, trailing a hand down her arm.
Helena shivered at his touch out of disgust, but she was sure he figured that it was pleasure. Anything to make him happy and keep his hands in the right places. If there was even a right place to begin with.
"It's okay, love," he continued. "All is forgiven."
He told her that she was in debt to him for making her life better, but her life wasn't better. It was worse. Much, much worse. She shouldn't have run away from home, believed the horrible lies that Baron had told her.
She was his puppet, strings being yanked on whenever he chose. She couldn't do this any longer. It had to end.
Staring at the vile in her hands, Helena knew what she had to do.
She opened it, allowing more tears to fall from her face. The sickly green liquid was fused with so many house chemicals that it had to do the trick.
"I've been your prisoner for five years," Helena said to herself. "Five years too many. I will no longer be your puppet."
She downed the contents of the vile. "There are no strings on me." As the chemicals began to react to her body, the vial slipped through her fingers, shattering on the floor.
When Baron would return, he would find Helena on the floor lifeless. The control he had over Helena Ravenclaw was gone.
