Warhammer 40K: Origins
When God made the earth, he also made a secondary area to serve as a cage. He assigned various Angels to serve as guards and Tasked Adam with barring the gates. He called the new area Warhammer and began creating people to inhabit it. When these people inevitably sinned, God made the orcs, and Equipped them with shotguns. Skipping 12 years worth of History, including the death of Adam to Cain, God focused all his thought on Warhammer.
This caused the world as we now know it to cease existing.
Mankind grew to loathe the Goblins and fashioned tools of war. Great tanks and siege engines of steel and Iron. Great gates filled with spikes, coated in venom and other nasties known to Warhammer. Blood flew from various orifices as both Human and Goblin slew each other. Bones turned to dust, Flesh became as brittle as cooked Spaghetti and they became blinded as the hordes invented new ways to torture. Roasting their flesh until it boiled, Skinning them with 5 foot long blades. The term Martyr came into existence, for the world was forged with the blood of both the wicked and the innocent.
But that was far from the nightmare that would be The Metal Age.
The nights grew darker and not a bird or beast could be heard. lit fires, kept running through the frantic chopping and laying of wood, could be seen for miles. This was a vigil. the first Funeral, to commemorate the dead as victorious, not beaten. the Goblins, in contrast, Made mockeries of the humans in tales, painting them as savage. Using the words "freedom" and "peace" as if it were a horrible, terrible curse. the concepts of love, friendship and most importantly, Compassion, were so alien to the Orcs, that those attempting reform (as certain groups in said faction tried to do) were strung up. Their lungs and intestines keeping them off the ground, attached to a great spike, no doubt a mockery of the sterling silver of the human colonies.
God slowly began to change. At first, he helped the humans, giving them protectors, in the form of Marines. The land had peace for 3 years, under the governance of the Marines. But, God, at the end of his rope, and desiring to throw off the yoke of peace, declared war on both factions, raising long buried horrors from hell. Massive titans, their bodies bleeding and skinless. Savage Bipedal Werewolves, fangs bloody from fresh kills. The nights bought sadness and terror, but the days bought endless war as Titans smashed civilian cities to dust.
40,000 years later, the endless war continues. Welcome to Warhammer 40K
