Chapter 1
Katara sniffed. She missed her momma. But her momma was never coming back. Her brother was getting her an ice cream cone. But he was gone for a very long time. A big boy was coming towards her with a smirk on his face.
"Oh a wittle guwl misses her mommy?" Katara glared at him. "Do you know my momma is dead? Do you know my momma is never coming back?" She snapped. His faced softened a little. "Yea, I thought so." His faced hardened again. He shoved her. "What's a little six year old gonna do 'bout it? Hm? Tell your daddy?" Her tempered burned and she swung a punch at his nose. In the process, breaking it. "That's what I'm gonna do about it. And about my age, I'm five!" She screamed. The boy ran away. A boy about seven was standing behind her, with a wondering look on his face.
I watched the girl swing a punch at the boy, breaking his nose with a sickening crack. I winced. "That's what I'm gonna do about it. And about my age, I'm five!" She screamed. I was impressed. A five year old throwing a punch like that has my respect. She was breathing heavily when she noticed me standing behind her. She gave me a questionable look. I gulped.
"Ca-can you teach me how to punch like that?" Her eyes widened a bit. "Um, I have to ask my friend Toph. She three and she can throw a mean punch! But I have to warn you, she's VERY tough," She warned. "How tough are we tough are we talking?" She looked around. "She beat up a 20 year old. And I was there!" He widened his eyes. "Wow. Um, I'm Zuko," He stuck out his hand. She stared at his hand for a second. "Katara."
