With Jake hanging over the side of the flimsy wooden rails, Roland flickered his eyes from the glowing exit and the struggling boy. What now? A lifetime's work or...? His eyes flickered from one to the other, his feet slightly rocking on the rotted beams, before he squeezed his eyes closed firmly, making his decision.
"Roland! Just leave me! Your going to anyway!" Jake yelled, tears streaming down his cheeks. The dust covered and teared clothing adding a light weight and Jake's hands began slipping.
What are you waiting for Roland? Forget the boy! If you want to find the Tower, the voice of the man in black rang through the gunslingers head.
Running forward, Roland through out his arm and grasped onto Jake, pulling him up. The decaying beams began to sway with the added force. You're a fool Roland. You won't find the Tower now, the man in black's voice rand out. Shut up! the gunslinger snarled in return to the voice, I'll find it with the boy!
"Roland?" Jake's unsure voices spoke reguarding the rapidly swaying rails.
"Come on."
"You-"
"Come on!"
Running forward, Roland pulled Jake along with him (the boy stumbling from the rebound of hanging uselessly) towards the mountain exit. Damnit! I fell right into his trap. Why did I have to love the boy!
Leoanda: Don't know if this is OCness on Rolands part, but it doesn't really seem like him. Oh well!
