This is my new story!! Read it and tell me if you like it, and whether I should continue or not!!

I leaned against the headboard of the bed, soaking in the lyrics as I watched Tanya apply a pale pink nail polish that Alice had bought for her to her toenails. I tried to focus on the music, to quench the boredom I was feeling. Since I considered Tanya as my mate, I shouldn't feel this way around her, but it was inescapable. We were not mates in the truest sense though, we had no physical relationship. It was just that I was much closer to her than other female vampires I have ever known. Everyone considered us mates, all the vampires outside the family, that is.

'Edward looks a little bored… Maybe I should do something to make him more active?' Tanya thought, apparently forgetting my ability to read thoughts. It was my special ability, just like how Jasper could sense and manipulate others emotions and how Alice could see the path a person's decision took them on.

Tanya was constantly trying to move our relationship to a physical level. Although I was not interested in her as more than a friend, she didn't seem to get the message at times. When I vehemently refused her, she thought I was just being shy and stubborn.

'I know he'll say yes, but hopefully Tanya will be okay with it… Hmm, I better start packing soon' I heard Alice before she had even reached the floor which my room was on. Seconds later, she flung the door open, knowing that there would be nothing going on in here for which she would have to knock before coming in.

"Tanya," She nodded her head towards her. Alice had an aversion towards Tanya, which she was said was unexplainable. She said that maybe it was just the way she always threw herself at me, or maybe her vanity, or coldness.

"Guess what, Edward? We're going to Forks! Will you come with us?" Alice gushed. She knew I would say yes, yet she thought it common courtesy to ask me anyway. I saw Tanya lift her head from her tedious nail painting, as she called it, and fix me with a penetrating gaze. Probably wondering whether I would stay here with her or go with my family. There was no choice in the question.

"Of course I'm coming." I replied. "I've been with you all these years, why would I not come now?"

'He's going? Leaving me?' I knew Tanya was hurt, but I had made it very clear that we would be just friends, and that family came before her. Why I considered her my mate, I didn't know. Probably because she was the only female I didn't consider a sister. She didn't really fit the criteria of a mate though.

"Good. Start packing." Alice commanded, and then flitted out of the door just as fast as she had come in. Tanya stared at me coldly.

"You're leaving." She stated. I nodded coolly.

"I can't desert my family." I had been with Carlisle since I was created, except for a typical rebellious bout. I had left him and Esme for 10 years, only to come back.

I moved around the room at vampire speed, putting all my things in my suitcase, taking particular care for my CD collection. Once everything was in the bag, I took it down stairs. Everything was probably ready for our departure and we would be leaving as soon as Alice was ready. I sat quietly on the sofa, the Denali clan surrounding me. Finally, Alice and Jasper sprinted down the stairs.

After goodbyes and promises to visit, we finally piled our entire luggage into the car. Tanya clutched my arm.

"I'll see you soon Tanya. We'll keep in touch, and we can always visit each other." I assured her. She just nodded and I gave her a brief hug before climbing into the Volvo. Carlisle and Esme were talking the Mercedes, Emmett the jeep, Rosalie her BMW and Jasper and Alice were in my Vanquish.

I waved to the Denali's one last time, and then sped away from Denali to Forks.

Review!! Tell me how it was, and if I should continue!!
