This Old House
When it was first built, it was the pride of Collinsport. Joshua Collins hired the finest workers, painters, and decorators to make his house stand out amongst all the other ones. When it was done, the Collins invited everyone from the town to attend a Gala Ball in celebration. The general consensus was that there was no finer manor anywhere in the entire state of Maine.
But then came the Dark Times. Joshua and Naomi were killed by a falling statue, and their only son Barnabas became obsessed with the occult. He shut himself up in his rooms, and gradually the house fell into disrepair and then into decay. Rooms rotted and paint peeled around him, but he paid no heed, driven as he was to discover the source of his parents' gruesome deaths.
And then, for a brief moment it looked as though the clouds had lifted. Barnabas met Josette, and fell in love. The idea of his bride-to-be living in a run down, decayed manse was unacceptable, so he began a campaign to have the house restored to what it had been while his parents were still living. There was one thing he hadn't counted on.
Angelique.
He spurned her, and in return she cursed him to endure the never ending torment of Undeath, buried beneath the dirt in an iron coffin for almost two centuries. But even after so long, he knew the way home.
The sight of the decayed beauty before him would have made him weep if he had tears. The house was in desperate need of repair, and he knew that would be his first priority once he had introduced himself to his family.
He only hoped his father's cache hadn't been discovered.
