Aragorn
By: americananime
A/N: My first fan fiction poem! Everyone say yay! This is written to my fictional love of the year,
Aragorn. (Some girls fall for guys in boy bands, I got it in for rough lookin' fictional characters. Pitiful
-- The story of my love life.) If you have Aragorn Issues too, that's good for you!

* * *
A deep dark stranger
Lockin' everything inside.
Sittin' in an inn's tavern,
with a halfling by his side.
No one in the busy place
Ever quite suspects,
that the heir of Isildur
Is sitting in the next bit of space.
The less people know the better;
Ain't nothing special there,
They think.
Ain't no good just down and out,
Lookin' for a fight.
Yeah, yeah, let 'em think that ... yeah, that's right.
A hood over his face,
He'd scare 'em to death.
Shire folk ain't ever seen
the one who knows
where Isildur 's Bane
is hidden within their own folk.
The bearer of the ring approaches,
He starts a big commotion.
Little thing don't know what he's doin',
Just trying to do the un-askable.
So he joins,
just for laughs,
so one who sees him might think.
It's for an old friend, it's for an old girl,
it's for the whole old world.
The tiredness pours on him more and more
As they carry him down the road.
Two dead, seven to go.
Hopes sure as heck he's one of them.
No, it ain't right for him to go,
with dark times ahead.
A long, long time 'go,
he said an oath and he won't let it go.
On the road he leads them,
until the last of it breaks,
An elf and a dwarf
are the last he is to protect,
on the roads of the dead.
His kin is gathered,
His friends around,
only now in the darkness
can he reveal,
Whom he is and what he's about.
Isildur , Isildur , why did you put this on him?
What'd a half crazy stranger
comin' from your roots,
have to live during the darkness,
only caused by you?
A grave face he bears, up until the morning light,
Counseling with his closest kin,
knowing it's time to fight.
A lady of a certain house,
begs to be let out,
to travel along the road with him,
to see what's about.
The time of war draws closer,
the darkness covering the sun's light.
Today is no time for joking.
As Isildur's Heir makes his last stand.

AA's After Note: Does anyone like it? This is my first shot at Lord of the Rings, just a rough
character piece. Sorry if the LotR fans don't like it. BTW, in case you're wondering, I'm only starting
the 3rd book so I might have made some ghastly mistake about something in this but I don't think I
did. I'm holding out until I finish the books to write anything serious and deep with long stretching
spanning story arcs and the like.
