Lucy Heartfilia - The Medium
Disclaimer: As cool as it would be to own Fairy Tail, I don't. (;_;)
Prologue
Lucy was ten years old when her mother, Leila Heartfilia, died, or so her father and the servants said anyway.
To Lucy, however, her mom was right there beside her and her daddy.
She was confused, so she asked, "Mommy, why is everyone saying that you left when you're right there?"
Her mother looked surprised for a second, and then a look of understanding came on her face. Before she could reply though, Jude Heartfilia snapped out, "Stop talking to people who aren't there! Your mother is gone because she's dead!"
He looked mad to Lucy, so she just quietly agreed. Later she saw her mother motioning for her to come outside to the forest clearing they used to play at.
Once there, Lucy asked, "What's going on Mommy, everyone saying that you're dead, but you're right here! How can you be dead, Daddy always says that ghosts aren't real so you can't be one of those."
Her mother was silent, and after a while Lucy meekly asked, "Can you?"
After a period of dead silence, her mother spoke up, "Sweetie, you remember all of those times when I would bring out my keys, and let you play with my partners?" Lucy nodded, and after seeing that, Leila continued, "Do you remember me saying that when you grow up, you could become a celestial wizard, just like me? And that after you did, I would explain the other part of our magic?"
Lucy was getting impatient, after she wanted answers, not reminders about things that she already knew. Leila saw this and chucked, thinking to herself that Lucy looked really adorable when she pouted like that. "What's so funny? Mamma, get to the point already," Lucy said and then puffed out her cheeks because that just made Leila laugh harder.
"Sorry. *ahem*... Anyway, the other part of the magic comes from my side of the family, and let's you see and talk to the dead spirits, as well as being able to make them be able to interact with this world - for a short time."
Lucy looked appeased for a moment, and then realized, "... So you really are dead after all, huh." She then started to tear up as it really sank into her that her mother was dead.
"Don't worry Sweetie, I'll be here with you for a while yet, after all, I still need to teach you magic, right. And even after I move, you can still contact me if you really need to." Leila said to her crying daughter while she gave Lucy a hug.
"You promise?" Lucy sniffed out, looking hopeful.
"Pinky-Promise," Leila said, and they shook.
"Now then, since I don't think your daddy will appreciate watching you talk to what looks like thin air, you can meet up with me once a week on your day off from lessons. We can can meet in this clearing, and I'll give you your first lessons on the family magic. Does that sound okay"
Lucy nodded in agreement, then looked at the sky and realized it was almost night and she was late for dinner. Leila saw this too, and led Lucy back to the manor, where she foresaw a long, chaotic, and exhausting task ahead of her in the form of trying to teach this brand of magic to her young daughter.
She thought to herself, that this would definitely be entertaining at least.
Okay, so I hope you enjoyed this, as it kind of just popped into my head while I was bored. Anyway, I have no idea whatsoever where I'm going with this, so any suggestions would be helpful, otherwise I'm just going to say that this is complete. Thanks for reading fellow people who are most likely just as bored as I usually am as you clicked on this fanfic.
