Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
Deidara opened his eyes only to squeeze them tight again as the bright white surroundings burned at his retinas. "Damn, un. Too bright, un."
A giggle, like the tinkling of bells, sounded next to Deidara, followed by a just as beautiful sounding voice that said, "I know. I thought the same thing when I first arrived here a few years ago. But you get used to it. So no worries."
Deidara slowly opened his eyes again. A breath-taking black haired girl, wearing a snow white kimono dusted with pink sakura blossoms into the design, came into Deidara's view as his blurred vision cleared. "Are... you an angel, un?"
Another giggle sounded. "I'm afraid not. Hope I didn't disappoint you. Apparently, however, the Higher Power of this place deems me a courteous individual. So I kind of just greet new souls, who are more than likely to be disoriented and confused upon their arrival. That said, welcome to the afterlife..."
Deidara stood. "Deidara, un. My name is Deidara. What's yours?"
"My name is Haku. I was a servant boy to the great shinobi known as Zabuza in my time with the living. And I know all about your reputation. It was my job to know such things for my master's benefit." Deidara's cheeks turned slightly pink. This boy, Haku seemed much too pretty to be male. He could easily outdo most girls when it came to looks. Not to mention that gentle smile he wore.
"Oh. I've heard of your master, but I don't know much about him. Just Kisame's ramblings about him... I have only cared about society leaving me alone to practice my art. What do we do now, un? Will I get to practice my art here?"
Haku nodded. "I see. Yes. From what I understand shinobi free to make use of their own time here have made large strides in their skills, though it does not matter so much given that we are dead and will have no more use for them. Many shinobi take up hobbies here that they had wished to be able to pursue in life." Haku smiled at Deidara. "Follow me, Dei-kun." Haku turned and started walking into the white abyss.
Deidara blushed, following closely behind Haku. "Dei-kun?"
"Yep! I think it suits you, Dei-kun." Suddenly they were in front what looked like a mental institution to Deidara. Of course, the afterlife's favorite color seemed to be pure white.
In front of them was a white, brick building. It stood a few stories tall, with evenly spaced windows all around it, as far as he could see anyway. The rest was a guess. The windows were practically the only reason he could see the building. Next, however, the space around the building became a soft blue. Then the space the two males were standing on became green with grass and trees took form in various places. Cement paths also appeared, along with two fountains on either side of the large path that lead straight to the doors of the building.
Haku looked to Deidara for his reaction. It was always a little entertaining to the young boy. Deidara spoke with some pause, "That, was a little creepy, and cool, but mostly creepy." Haku grinned.
"That's what a lot of people say, or at least I can tell that is what they are thinking." Haku's face takes on a softer look as he continues, "This is the place shinobi go. They're given ten years here to live in peace, whether other think they deserve it or not. Afterward, that shinobi is judged and sent to heaven or hell. I know you're probably thinking that with all the shinobi that die this place won't hold them, but it's a lot bigger than it looks out here." Haku gazed at the building. "Let's go in. We have to get you settled in a room and then I'll show you around." The two missing-nin walked into the walk building.
