Aruani Week: Day 3. Elysium

Annie got out of the crystal and Hanji has to look after her in the Survey Corps.

...

"Armin, what's the Elysium?"

Armin looked up, slightly startled from the sudden outburst. "The Elysium?"

Annie nodded.

Armin looked thoughtful. "How should I put this... Well the Elysium is a paradise the Greeks believed in that exists in the Underworld, which is where the place the dead goes to."

The blonde girl looked thoughtful for a minute. "What kind of people go there?"

Armin looked at the the dark, starry sky. "Magnificent people. The ones who have done little wrong and helped others, like heroes and good people in general." He smiled.

Annie shifted. She gazed down at her hands, which were fidgeting with a couple blades of grass. "Do you think such a place exists?"

"Well I think it does. It would be nice to go to a place like that when we die."

"I'm not going there."

Armin tore his gaze away from the sky to look at the girl. He had a confused and shocked look on his face. "What do you—"

Annie huffed. "I don't belong in a paradise. I don't deserve it after all I have done. I killed innocent people. I tried to kill everyone. I'm not a good person."

Armin stared for a minute. "No Annie—"

"Armin—"

"No." He stated, adding more force into the word. Annie stopped talking and looked into his ocean blue eyes. "No." He said quieter than the last time. "You're a good person. No, a great person. You deserve the Elysium. You helped a lot on the last expeditions. You saved my life. Thats more than anyone could ask for."

She was quiet. Annie averted her gaze and looked down at the grass by her feet again. Armin put a finger under her chin and guided her head to face him again.

"If it make you feel better, I feel like I'm in the Elysium right now. With you."

She smiled shyly. "You're so cheesy."
