The Predator Strikes
His shrill, harrowing howl cut through the stillness of the desert air. Immediately alarmed, Qui-Gon spun to face his attacker. Predatory, the attacker's eyes, filled with hatred and savage blood-lust, fixed squarely on his unsuspecting prey. He stuck fear into the depths of Qui-Gon's stomach: Red and black stirpes zig-zagged his ferocious, feral face; stunted horns encircled his hairless head; glowing orange eyes blazed with malice; and hooked, bony teeth lined his growling mouth.
Almost instantly, he was on top of Qui-Gon. Deftly jinking the speeder to one side, he shut down the power and sprung off the seat towards Qui-Gon in one swift movement. Flipping high in the air, at rapid speed, in a whirl of dark robes, the beastly demon slashed wildly with his red lightsabre. Instinctively, Qui-Gon parried, dropping helplessly to one knee. He instantly knew that his attacker with a Sith— and well-trained in the art of lightsabre combat.
Before he could fully return to his feet, the Sith attacker surged forwards in a whirl of burning red energy, striking from every angle. Breaking from the battle, Qui-Gon spun low, spinning his lightsabre around his head in a deadly arc. The attacker jumped back. Qui-Gon circled to the right. Both men's eyes were fixed on each other: the Sith, seething, his eyes burred with hatred; the Jedi, now clam and composed.
Taking a high guard, Qui-Gon demanded, "Reveal yourself, Sith, who are you?!" The Sith attacker answered with a fearsome roar, once more bearing his pointed, hooked teeth. With inhuman speed, the Sith exploded forward: running, spinning, his blade circled high and low in a deadly vortex of red energy. Qui-Gon was forced back by the raging storm of the Sith's onslaught , but his defence was impenetrable. He parried high and flipped backward, attacking the Sith mid-air as he somersaulted out of the combat.
Stunned, the Sith momentarily slowed his advance. Sensing an opportunity, Qui-Gon raged powerfully forwards. With a heaving slash, from high to low, he thrashed into his opponent's sabre. The Sith retreated backwards. Qui-Gon, relentless, pushed forwards with a series of thrusts and slashes. Slipping a lunging attack, the Sith rolled quickly to the left and immediately sprung back to his feet, whirling his lightsabre by his side with one hand and, with the other hand, he goaded Qui-Gon back into the battle.
Based on the first meeting of Qui-Gon Gin and Darth Maul from 'The Phantom Menace'.
